Fired up the Car and the Exhaust sounds great! Not the typical "rappin' the pipes" sound you associate with a Straight 6, but a deep, throaty bark.
I did end up installing the Mufflers with the exhaust flowing over the rounded end of the dimples inside instead of at the open end. There was a significant difference in sound depending upon which direction we had them oriented.
    New Billet Tips installed too!

    Heater is in!
The Deluxe Model came with a Harrison Fresh Air Heater. Which is basically a Box connected to the Fresh Air Duct in the engine bay, with the heater Core inside. Well this one leaked and there are no replacements. So I used a modern GM Truck Core and modified the Box.
The original Core had the Supply and Return on opposite sides and ends. They are side by side on the new Core, so I drilled 2-new holes in the lower back of the Box. Laying a blanket of 1/4" Closed Cell Foam inside the Box for the Core to sit on, with X cuts in line with the Drilled Holes, the Supply and Return pushes through and creates a self seal and covers the remainder of the original offset Hole shown in the picture.
The Core is thinner than the original, so I used foam bucks to keep it secure. A plug will go in the original lower front Hole. Sandblasted and painted with Satin Hammered Black rattle can, the assembly was reinstalled

The Transmission Access Cover was sandblasted and painted with grey Hammered Finish rattle can, and reinstalled on top of the carpet for easier access in the future. Besides, I think the Interior needed some of the Industrial look that the Engine Bay has developed.

At the Turkey Run this week, will add new Posts when I return.

    Wood Grain Dash.
Same technique as the other Trim pieces - base coat of rattle can Warm Caramel, with a Black wiped topcoat.
Definitely easier with the windshield out of the car!

Good Job! Merry Christmas to me!

We’ll install the Windshield and Visor next week when I return. Then wrap up the faux patina paint blending I had to do where I rust protected under the roof moldings, and it encroached into the body color.

Stock Repops for the Tail Lights. I'm hand-sanding the body, before Satin Clear Coat, so lights will not go in until the body gets done. I still have to remove the Side Front Fender and Door Moldings, and rust-protect under them, like all the other trim. That will all get masked before Clear Coat. Scored Repop Rocker Moldings for a little more $ than good used ones I was looking to buy, so those will also install once body is complete.
Now the Shop is full for winter storage, so we'll see how much of the Body I can get done.

The Windshield is in, and the Visor is back on.
The repop Glass fit great but the Center Bar Screws were an inch short, with the new Windshield Weatherstrip. Typically not a problem with newer models that had threaded studs on the exterior trim - simply use a longer screw to attach it.
However, I couldn’t find long enough sex bolts, so I used these round threaded Tabs, flattened opposite sides so they wouldn’t spin in the channel of the trim, and used traditional screws from the inside.

"The Heat is On". Well the balance of the Heater has been installed.
Once the Windshield went in, the Wiper Escusions could be bolted down from under the dash, and the Glove Box installed. Then the Heater Blower Motor and Ductwork squeezes-in between the Glove Box and Firewall.
Reinstall anything out of sequence, and you'll be starting all over! There's no access to the top/underside of the dash once the Glove Box installs, and there's no swing to install that, if the Heater Ductwork doesn't go in last.

    Happy Holidays!
The Best Gift I've received is finding this Forum, and all the Great Folks who have lended their support.
I couldn't have done my '49 Build, FrankenStyle, without all the generous assistance. As this Project nears completion, I'm reminded of how cool the Auto Enthusiast Community is, and no matter how taxing these Builds can be, I can't wait to begin the next one!
Thank You again for all the kind words and assistance.

  18. Merry Christmas and all the best to you, my friend. I have really enjoyed following your build even though I don’t think I really commented on it. I am starting a ‘52 Chevy Sedan Delivery build, so your skills, ingenuity and imagination have been an inspiration to me and I hope to see more from you.

Is the next build that woody I believe I see in one of the photos. I think you would kill it with your style of building.

Thanks. That's a '47 Pontiac Woody which was in pristine condition when put in a garage some years ago. The story goes, the garage roof failed and the weather took a toll on the wood. It's all there, but having done another Woody, it will entail disassembly of most of the wood. We actually had mocked-up 1-side with blue painter's tape to turn it in to a 2-door! But, nobody has the $ to fund the Build, so it's FOR SALE. 100% Rot-Free Sheetmetal, but still a lot of work.

Thank You Very Much. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I particularly enjoy Hunting for Parts/Vendors, and have done over a Year of research, so I'm glad to help.

Speaking of Spring. One Spring was broken so I cut/bent a length of copper line, slid it over each side of the break, and crimped it so it wouldn’t slide out.
As for the Upholstery, I was able to save the brushed cotton Backs and Aprons. After a light cleaning, I sprayed them with Fabric Dye to even-out the faded color.

  25. Just read you entire build thread, really like your problem solving skills and use of unconventional materials. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks BBC. I really like using Unconventional Materials in every Build.
I've got some really crazy ideas for the Trunk, so stay tuned! Space issues at the Shop have really slowed-down progress, but I'm pushing to get the car ready for March Boston World of Wheels.
We did get the Front Seat installed yesterday, which was quite a chore, given that we couldn't open the car doors fully.
All that's left for the Interior are the Door Panels, Window Trims, and Arm Rests, but those will have to wait for the body to be sanded and clear-coated. (I want to pull the Exterior Trim to do the body, and that bolts from inside).
