Thanks to all you contributors especially Gary and RedlandMaggie for making this thread so informative, historical and entertaining. I used to read a few pages from a book I now I’m addicted to the 50’s and 60’s ....... they were such great times. One thing I have observed is how slim everyone was and especially poignant was a photo of a circular burger and shake shack taken in the early 60’s with everyone tucking into burgers, fries, milk shakes, coke and snocones without realising what all that sugar and processed food was going to be responsible for.
Anyway, happy and healthy new year to ya’ll and thank you.

The one in this post doesn't look anything like the one in the original post. And I don't think the poster was saying it was. Just a later model. The original one is early 50's not 1960.

  10. I personally emptied a lot of those Black Label cans, but preferred the long bottle. A case of beer, any brand, in BC in 1960 was $2.52, and the fine for drinking in public was $52.50. My buddy was inept enough to get caught.

Thank's for the heads up. I've never seen one in person but I've seen lot's of the other Hillman's. And of those I've messed with and people that had them, they never mentioned the Minx Estate. "Out of site, out of mind" they say.

  14. The Schooner in Nederland, Texas, 1955. The restaurant has been in business for 70+ years and, per Yelp, is still receiving good reviews. This photo was taken by James Everett and comes courtesy the Port Arthur Public Library via the Portal to Texas History.

Not a vintage photo. We all love the TROG, but... something's fishy in Denmark. Gary

No, it is not. I am pretty sure the Corvette is an out take from the movie Kiss Me Deadly with Ralph Meeker and Cloris Leachman( her first movie,) The 55 Corvette is one of a couple of cool cars that Meeker has in the movie.
