I had a late 20's sedan many years ago and loved it even though I didn't finish putting it on the road before having to move and leave it.
The frames are highly desireable to use. They were used in early hot rod racing days.

Azreal is a 1929 Essex Coach. Glad to see someone who know's it's a Coach instead of a tudor. :)

We just finished a complete chassis for a 27-28 with Heidts IFS and IRS. Used the stock frame boxed. Engine was a EchoTech with 5 speed.

I'm picking up this '27 Essex truck in the New Year. The cab is Essex, everything else is '30 Chevy. I plan to modify the rad shell to look more like an Essex one once I get the truck home.

Hey Brian; So you haven't hunkered down for the winter after all? Hopefully I'll get this thing wired shortly;I want to get the headers and side pipes in before Xmas.We could have a runner by New Years and that would mean a beaker or two of some good navy rum;) .

  15. Hey 29 xs, have you got the Essex fairies working on your car. A little birdie told me you haven't been out in the garage for a few weeks??????? Is your car building itself now? Pat.

A tudor is a car built by Ford (or other car company).) A Coach is the specification given to this model by Essex. Also, The Ford was built with quarter panels speficlly designed by Ford for a two door model. On the Essex, all of them were the same to the front door hinge pillar. From there back the car was modular. If you ordered a coupe, they installed the rear curtain and coupe quarters. If a Coach, you got a filler panel between the door and the rear apron and curtain panels. If a Sedan, a door was put in place of the filler panel. If you look inside any Coach, the rear door hinge pillar (or "C" pillar) is there, they just didn't install a door and the hardware for the latch in the "B" pillar.

    No, 2 door = Coach, 4 door = sedan.

I realize this tread is a few yrs old now but. Here is my 1930 Essex coach.
I built the frame, fully bagged, 4" chop, 3" section, 4"stretch, and a ton of other crap.
neat little thing I found... the 1930 is the only year Hudson and Essex have oval back windows.

Well, here's my girl, 28 Hudson Essex sedan. The only thing better than one set of suicide doors is two! I just picked her up 2 months ago now . Drove her home , 13 hours . Loved every minute of it! Haven't changed anything. ....yet! 2018-01-21 15.59.13.jpg
