Well, new year around the bend, it’s time to get my barn cleared and some serious organization this year - a great resolution! Long story short, while planning and building my house my inlaws let me store items in their barn if I cleaned it out. After 6-7 years. It’s packed full top and bottom! Wife and I used to hit auctions and estate sales to furnish our house while construction approached and overflows hit the barn. I said I would open an antique shop someday. 5E76F4D9-3914-49C3-98C0-45056B61591E.jpeg 8E383703-F40F-411B-9CF3-A12C16CAB283.jpeg FEEB143E-9162-4284-80DC-3771944B107F.jpeg 8263F3F9-1797-47C7-B57F-7C8EBEE4E1EC.jpeg 44870E17-E8EC-4201-AE9C-57141BB0CF0B.jpeg 64E506CB-F5B7-44BC-AB30-338D847E4772.jpeg 2E049788-2624-4F00-B134-FC72206FD8AF.jpeg 1120C8F2-B19A-41B2-B27A-905CED4473F0.jpeg 15BD098F-1F0F-4155-804A-DDA81B2E6BFA.jpeg 0D862786-B5B8-4764-B282-F3D4D5B8937A.jpeg 3C1AF7A2-4261-4121-BE51-A6C39DEC81CC.jpeg B0C5D7AD-E04E-40A8-B437-48B089A72204.jpeg 5260D7BE-4F79-4FF0-BB28-4E09E6179922.jpeg A05062F6-A22C-4B0E-8D73-A79B56CBF370.jpeg Just look at this mess!

I like that traffic light. I’d ship the dash but I hate shipping big items. Also. It’s all piles. I kept moving and sorting things when I got a day off. You couldn’t open the doors so I started hanging things and getting them off the floor! You should see the basment lol! Maybe I should start selling here lol.

In my barn? or your barn? :)

Mine doesn't have much of that kind of stuff. But there is a 40 LaSalle hearse, and some truck parts, etc.

when ya live out away from a town hard to get buyers to come out - we ended up using a antique consignment store that does estate sales too. have tried taking stuff to many swap meets, flea markets, craigslist, etc. The consignment shop has been in business for a long time. So, they have a big mailing list, contact list to let buyers know what is For Sale where. Had hundreds of people at our place for a two day sale - lots of stuff sold way below "market" value, and had to split profits with dealer. Had 2-4 people here for close to a week organizing, displaying, pricing, etc. before sale and during sale. Did give some stuff away, some to dump and paid for some to be hauled away. way to go if you are selling your place, or after family member passed away. if no rush, sell what you need to sell quicker than buying more stuff.

  18. You have to decide if you enjoy looking at it or want it all gone. I'm in the same boat (sort of), I have about 250 cars/ carcasses and lots of stuff in general. For me at this point it's not a problem because I enjoy seeing it. However the day will come that it needs to go and I think an auction is the way to go. It will sell for the highest price that day and no problem for me dealing with buyers. Plus the auction company will pay me, so if someone doesn't pay them then that's not my problem, and they have a set amount of time to clear it out.

    250 cars!!!?
Umm. Not same boat. That’s an ocean! Lol.
Inlaws can use the space....so similar boat I suppose.

  21. A lot of the treasures I have accumulated in my barn & garage are byproducts of both our parents passing away and having to move everything from their homes, plus selling my business which was in the same location for 50 years and of course all my car parts.

I have sold a lot at swap meets and intend to do more this coming year,it's time to start liquidating some of the treasures and taking some of the junk to the dump. HRP

A damn mess that I have run out of excuses for not getting cleaned up. Snow brought it down last winter and my work schedule didn't allow for gettng much done tearing it down, salvaging what material I can and getting started on my workshop in the same spot. I retire officially on Tuesday so no more excuses except it is too cold and nasty out there now. That roofless cab will be the new cowl for my new [/ATTACH] IMG_2315.JPG IMG_2316.JPG

there is always an excuse that can be used. life in general gets in the way. common thought is that when a person retires will have a lot of time with fewer expenses - then you talk to "grey hairs" and find that is rarely true
