    Hello,

I got deleted today and I am back to try this again.

I purchased this 54 Chevy 210 on November 2017. The body was in good shape with hardly no rust. At this point there is no body filler on the car. Everything was in tact with nothing missing. car 2.jpg 54 chevy interior.jpg

Once I got it home I started taking it apart.

I found a rust hole on the passenger side front floor panel that I am going to cut out and replace with a new EMS floor pan.

I removed the front clip to be able to pull the motor and trans easier.

After that I removed the frame from the body.

I just recently order some parts from Gambino Kustoms and waiting for them to come in. Theses are the parts below what I'll be installing coming up hopefully soon.

Thanks yeah I picked it up in North Texas and I’m the 5th owner since 54. I have the original title and it hasn’t been on the road since 72. 45 yrs is a long time.

Well I started on the seats. I discovered they had some old seat covers on the seats and wanted to see the condition underneath. After taking the seat covers off of course the foam was bad and needed to be replaced. Here is some pictures of the progress.

I will probably be replacing all foam before I recover them.

I couldn’t wait...I had to get out to the garage and try my new Eastwood Contour SCT on a Side skirt on my 54. Less than 10 mins here is the results. I didn’t really have to work and push hard. I let the tool do the work. [IMG]

That's Crazy! Does it kick up much dust? How's the Pad look afterwards?

It doesn’t really kick up a lot of dust. The pad still looks brand new.

I bought the Eastwood tool and will give it a shot soon but it looks like it is a lot quicker than most.

Good decision to spend the money to buy a solid car... so far ahead in the long run.
Looks like that tool works great. Of course, there is still a little bit of rust hiding in the pits.
We've had a lot of discussions here about rust removal methods. They all seem to have their good and bad points. Sanding is tedious. Sandblasting warps panels that are near flat. Acid is caustic. Recently, we've been talking about a mix of cattle feed type molasses and water which takes longer but is thorough and non-toxic. But it turns out that the active rust removal ingredient in the molasses is the citric acid. So some have been experimenting with that... including me. You'll find citric acid in powder form in the baking aisle at the grocery store. Mix it with warm water in the size container you need for the part. Let it sit at least overnight. It will remove every bit of rust without damaging the metal. It leaves a blackish coating that comes off easily with a wire brush or wheel, steel wool, etc.
