Hot Rods How About A HAMB Barn Find Thread

What about a behind the garage, inside an old semi trailer find? Body was in there since the late 60s/early 70s. Frame was in their museum since the late 80s/early 90s.

I found both of these in pole barns.

 

Many things influence this unfortunate outcome...Death, Critical Illness, Lost interest, Loss of job, Hoarding Mentality, Marriage breakdown, Resale to people that sit on it and do nothing due to motivation or lack of time and space to keep things pristine and Estate situations in lieu of death to name a few. This has been realized many times around here. Priceless stuff to us means squat to many others.

I hope you got credit for that...So what was your involvement in all of this...are you a friend of the person who bought this historic gem? It seems to have passed on to a second owner since your retrieval project the pics were taken on.

Ok, sooo this is my new favorite thread, i love seeing barn/garage/woods finds. Such neat backdrops and stories that truly define the American hot rodder.

While I can appreciate the custom 36 coupe for being groundbreaking, I can't really say that I care for the styling. Rather fugly to me.I would probably remove all that work if I had it so its a good thing I don't.

 

My 29 Oakland as found last year and it’s still sitting there while I make space here at home.

sat 17 years under a carport. here it is clean up. has a motor city flathead in it. 36,000 miles !

June of '16 found ths specimen in a local garage...Took weeks for owner to dig it out

 

What is that hiding in the back corner behind the A?

 

Pulled this 34 three window out of a barn in July 2012. Previous owner had it for 38 years.

 

No picture of it in the barn but it had just come out of this N.D. barn into the light for the first time in over 50 yrs. I brought it back to Mi. and it's now in Colorado

 

Looks like a '39 truck cab ( windshield wiper hole above windshield on drivers side) on the left in the back corner?

 

61 Impala 348 convertible. 80,000 miles, engine and drivetrain never apart, good runner.

1st time seeing it about 5 years ago.


A couple days after buying it 2-1/2 years ago


About 1-1/2 years ago.


Leaving with the new owner 4 months ago

I'm going to rub it out this spring. I have to blend the roof a little to smooth out a couple dents. should look really good then !

 

Some money goes up quickly for me (in 1994) when I found eleven 20$ bills in the secret front compartment of the console....paid the car 250$ delivered to my place..

 

For a mid sixties Pontiac 'vert,such a deal!

 

I was the third one to bought the Custom Sport for a restoration, but sold it like that for 1,000$ with a running 409 from a truck (that I paid 500$ for)...
