Thanks Bob, Im going to look at one tomorrow and see if it will work with my cab. I cant decide which way to mount the cab though, for some reason I want to do endo's if it rolls away on me
It looks 14 foot tall in this picture. I wonder what my neighbor would think if I put one in my yard. You know, I could store it under my daughters trampoline.
I could see a car body centered in one of those feeder rings. you could fab up a roller base to set it on like in 31vicky's pics. similar to a design I started with but never finished.
The concept is commercially available. http://www.rollerhoop.com/ If we're contemplating to pay the asking price, I wouldn't and I'd buy an "auto twirler" brand Rotisseration apparatus If I could make a roller for cheap I would in a heartbeat.
The bale rings last a couple years...cow's mileage considerably more. Steers and heifers for slaughter...about two years.
And here I sit with left over Veggie Spaghetti and wilted salad. That's not even fair. On a different note, I'm now watching the farm section on CL for second hand bale rings. Thanks for the tip!
Mmmmmm! I will say that anyone who would try using one of these hoops; they tip easily when you lift them from the on-edge position, so with the added weight of a cab in the center, it might be even more unstable. They tip easy to facilitate dropping it over a bale.
I looked a some yesterday, and it looks doable (that past my spellcheck) to me. I am going to grab one and try it with a truck cab in the spring. If I like it, I will grab another one for car bodies. Also, when through with them, it should be pretty easy to get some cash back for them. Thanks again Bob, the ones I looked at were well over 4 feet tall, and 8 feet in diameter.
If you have the ceiling height, a couple free 12 or 14 foot trampolines make great rotos. You guys spend to much money on easy to make tools to impress your girlsfriends. That's ok though. I won't tell your wives,,,,, about the money spent.
I just finished a 53 chebby 3100 cab. I bolted casters to two separate pieces of 4 inch channel iron and bolted them to the cab mounts with some shimming and big washers to keep from distorting the cab. It sure was nice to move around. When I swung the casters the correct way, it made it easy to stand the cab on the fire wall. I could balance it on two wheels and scoot around it and set it back down on all four wheels. It worked great. I hope I pass the spell check and grammar police.
Trust me..It's been hard to pass by this thread. Now, if you don't have a clue, Google is not far away. This IS an internet forum, after all. Carry on..
