Ah yes, US Royal Masters. I REALLY wish someone would re-pop them.

 

wasn't there a problem with the us royal tires? i thought there was some sort of law suit or problem that forced the company out of business or change their name ?

 

in trying to find the answer on the googler i did find this:

my dad worked for firestone for years and i remember something about the us royal tires that he told me. i will call him in the morning and ask if he remembers.
i do know he had us royals on the front and m&h racemasters on the back.

I remember a lot of commercials featuring the Uni, Roy, and Al stunt driving team that used the new Uniroyal tires.

I remember drawing US Royal Masters on my classroom doodles. Probably one reason I had to go to summer school to graduate.

 

i asked Dad today and he could not remember exactly what the problem was. he worked for firestone for twenty or so years and remembered most tire companies having some issue from time to time as they "developed" new products.
anybody know when they stopped being us royal?

 

Coker sells a US Royal Master but it is not nearly as cool as the old ones...

 

Here is my 30 5 window coupe with 302 Ford with C 4 and a 9 inch. Purple all steel rod.

 

Well, they became "Uniroyal" in 1961 and were bought out by Michelin in 1990.

 

Come on man, I don’t remember back to 61.

This is on the back of my US Royals and they are from around ‘62?

 

I'm pleased to report that this 40 coupe is currently undergoing a full rebuild. Bob Ball has owned this one for over 50 years!

And I thought this one might keep the tire discussion going.. Norm Hall's sectioned Monarch has been "in progress" for at least 40 years & showed up a couple of years back for the Draggins' 50th car show - note the tires!

p.s. The open model 40 door in the pic of Bob's coupe belongs to the "Showboat" which is undergoing restoration and the yellow BelAir in the background is a Chrysler powered drag car which was towed by a mild custom blue BelAir both of which are still with the same owner after nearly 50 years!

I too doodled on everything when I was in school. I remember painting { US soil-als } on the sides of my dirty tennis shoes. And I also remember riding the large U.S. Royal Tire at the N.Y. Worlds fair. { The Memories} Ron...

 

Memories? Plenty of them! Future? Not so much.
