  5. I'm 6'2" and Kurt is 6'4". I've sat in both seats and don't fit either one very well. Between the chop, section and channel, there is very little leg room...it's all very tight. Of the cars in Kurt's collection, it's the one he least likes to drive simply cuz it's so tight. But, drive it he does and has done so cross country a few times. I'd give it my best shot....don't worry. LOL

I have that book as well. So cool your copy is signed by Spence! Might have to dig mine back out and give it another go through.

  17. I know I might get a little flack for this, but a chopped'49-'51 Merc 4 door really gets me going. This one that @rudestude recently posted is very cool. The tiny windows look awesome! It seems like I'm always carting people around, so a chopped four door like this would suit me fine. Imagine the looks you would get if you rolled up to a restaurant for dinner one night and all four doors opened (the rear doors suicide of course) and a everyone piled out. You would definitely give people something to remember and talk about for a long time! E

Ok @chryslerfan55, I've been doing lots of magazine searching and I haven't been able to find out much on the '51 Merc. The hubcaps really look familiar. I know I've seen that car as a magazine feature somewhere, but I can't find it. It might have been in one of my magazines destroyed in my basement flood a few years back.
Anyway, I found a picture of it in Custom Rodder from May 1997 in a write up of coverage of the Pacific Northwest '49 '50 '51 Merc Gathering and Picnic. If I find more I'll post it up. E

  18. Thanks E. That’s it alright. I’d forgotten about the Custom Rodder article until now. Anyhow thanks again E.

When I first saw this car I really liked it ,even though I like the Chevy one that's similar better, mainly because of the pipe's and wheels... don't get me wrong it a beautiful car.. I just thought the pipe's on the Pontiac looked more muscle car , Corvette ish looking than traditional lake pipe's ...my opinion...then I was looking through my new Jegs catalog I saw what they are calling lake pipe's ..... I guess that style with the multiple header pipe look is the new Lake Pipe , I like the pipe's on the Chevy better ...just saying..[IMG]

I guess I should have noted that nobody was referring to the pipe's on the Pontiac as lake pipe's I realize that they are custom built fully functional header side pipes I was just commenting on that style and how Jegs has that style of side pipe in bolt on sort of functional and calling it a lake pipe when it does not resemble a traditional style lake pipe ...just saying...moving on...
