Ok I will ask. He was trying to sell a whole bunch of stuff for one price but most of was luggage racks and crap. Send me an email. [email protected]

  6. I've been casually keeping an eye out for a folding rear luggage rack for a 28/29 if you don't mind asking as well :)

Been working hard. Just not on my car. My patience has paid off with this steering wheel though. Very excited about its condition and local to boot. Need a horn assembly if there is a source let me know.

Anyone tell me what years the steering shaft was a tapered key . Is model A the same? Going to cut a taper and keyway in my f100 and need a patten to copy. I' hoping moder A work cuz I could borrow one . Let me know thanks.

Garrett. Carefully chuck the wheel up in the lathe if you can and dial the taper in on the compound. You get a better copy of the taper that way. A little bluing and some lapping will get it exact!

Thanks for the advice my 9" lathe wouldn't handle that . I was thinking worst case scenario cram it full of playdoh and copy the plug?

Plydoh dries like cement! Which should work great.

Yes I changed the title. Tongue in cheek stab at some of the people who forgot why we are here. Thanks for the comment and the likes.

Even if it shrinks a bit the angle/taper would be the same.

  16. Taper is the same from '28-'48; so a model A shaft should be a good pattern. You could always check the fit in your wheel to confirm this.

Not an update per say but I'm happy to say I found a passenger door after several years of searching. 20180109_182334.jpg 20180109_182403.jpg
200 bucks is a bit better than going rate. Close to home too.

Ya . It' a beauty. Splash aprons, 2quarter panels and the back of cab and I will have a full fendered RPU. I hope to give it to my father. It would be a valued vehicle on the vinyard.

thanks for the good words guys. having a hard time getting to the work on the car . huge amounts of snow at the shop . the wet heavy stuff that breaks your equipment and leads to endless work. done my regular job today tho so after I fix my plow I can get on the roadster.

winter fun. There is an rpu and a T roadster with turtle deck under the peak at the rear. Just to the left of the shovel. Sad.

Wow that sucks! You need stacked Sea cans or something solid to stash all that stuff in.

The model A shaft I got is too big. Is there more than one size? AA?

Small update . Started to experiment bending hat channel for the sub frame. It distorted a fair amount but seems to work out because the inner bend balances the outer. Just had to straighten the flanges a little and tweak the width. Went better than I thought.

Took a scrap and tested my joinery.

Also found this cool merc truck column. I think I will use the jacket as it has signal lights. 20180507_200640.jpg

Made by Ingersoll Machine. Same as any f100 box internally is what I'm told. 20180507_200720.jpg

What does the base of the steering wheel look like? I have a mast like that in old chrome but I need to figure a steering wheel adapter
