Are you thinking about nutserts in the frame or welding threaded bungs into the tubing?
May be able to cover the burnt paint with the bracket.
A lot of side load (away from the frame), not a big deal against the frame.
Not sure of the style of (bolt-on) bracket you are planning but if at all possible make it so bolts go thru both walls of the tubing, in my view; any other method will not live.
May work if bracket bolts to both side and bottom walls of frame tube, made from angle or a piece cut out of heavy wall tubing.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Like an L bracket that bolts to the outside frame rail and the bottom frame rail. I have a nut zert kit. I could machine the back of the bracket so it sits flush to the frame (nut zert inside the bracket).

This is how I dealt with my steering shaft support as a bolt-on.

This is the bugger I forgot to weld on, forged steel from So-Cal.

Pete and Jakes offers this kit with a bolt on bracket that is like what I was describing above.

I would make the bracket and weld my forged panhard bracket to it and chrome it up. Doesn't look like they were thinking it would be a lot of torque...those are small bolt holes.

I am thinking I would use this as a guide and step on it a bit (over engineer it) and make sure it is sturdy. I could even run another wing up the inside of the frame to match this design and bolt all the way through the frame and bracket.

I hate getting in a hurry and forgetting things. probably not the last thing I forgot. :(

What's with the tuning fork? The axle cant do the electric slide but it allows travel up and down? Is that a product or a creation?

@Tim_with_a_T built some neat bolt-on ones on the rear of his chassis.

  8. BB - I've been following along and I'm anxious to see the body and frame reunited soon. I noticed that you said it will have a '32 tank out back. I hope you won't mind if I show one I did on a pal's '34 about 12 years ago. Wish I had a good picture of it with finish paint but I don't. Tank 1.JPG

Mind? MIND? I'm just glad you didn't post that before I painted my car. I would be tearing it apart again!

So here is your evening update on the wet sand progress. The body is starting to take shape and that shape is flat!
The polisher likes to shine up a panel to see how it is going to look. That panel of choice today was the deck lid (das boot?)

Unlike Brian, I remembered to drill the trunk handle before painting  snikker

And that there is the Bandit himself, through rose colored glasses. This is going to look good.

Prior to painting the rear axle tubes I needed to weld brackets to hold the rear line distribution block and a spot on the opposite axle to attach my brake lines. I didn't want to weld directly to the axle (warping possibilities) and there was a perfect spot where the springs are attached on each side. So I cut a couple strips of steel to fit and stitched them in. Tonight I installed the distribution block and braided line to the frame as I prepare to run my hard lines.

And up to the frame mount I remembered to weld in...o_O At least I remembered some stuff.
The drop from the frame to the axle is dead on. More stuff no one will notice.

Tidy! Now I can route the axle lines to the wheel cylinders and get ready to run the lines up to the M/C.

EVENING UPDATE, BATTLE GROUND, WA. New photos were obtained this evening of the alleged roadster build by the HAMB builder known locally as Bandit Billy. Information is short coming but we did obtain these photos from a source believed to be feted by our news agency, though we take no responsibility of their accuracy of course.

That is remarkable, the tank fits like it was Henry's idea for it to be there.
