I think I'm ready to send my roadster thru enhanced inspection. Kinda nervious but I'm pretty sure I have all the bases covered.
The biggest question I had was the fan shroud. I have enclosed a picture of what I did. Not sure if it's right or wrong but I like it.
    Well wish me luck. IMG_20171209_141308343.jpg IMG_20171209_141308343.jpg IMG_20171209_075945461.jpg

That meets the technical requirements for PA. Did you show it or talk to the place doing the enhanced inspection? If he ok's it, then you just need to hope the person who looks at the photo's in Harrisburg agrees that it is ok.
For the people looking at this posting. Enhanced inspection is a thing in Pennsylvania. It is used when you build a street rod out of assembled parts or want to run street rod plates. Street rod plates allow you to legally run no fenders, bumpers, and hoods.

Just for the heck of it, make some "no holes" snap on covers for the shroud
to see if it improves cooling. Try cardboard first.

Good looking roadster. Your fan shroud looks more like a safety guard to me; it doesn't look like it'll help pull more air through the radiator. As long as it does what you need, that's the only criteria. Good luck w/ the inspection. K6

  5. It should keep your fingers safe but it won't help with the cooling. HRP

I didn't make the grille for cooling. I just wanted something to satisfy the state. If I have a problem I will alter the grille or I have a form made to make a enclosed shroud. Don't know as I would like the look of an enclosed shroud but if it needs it......oh well

Heavy Duty Saran wrap from Home Depot. Jack E/NJ

  10. That should pass without a problem . Your headers are passing too, you only need heat shields if they are outside of the frame . Good luck, should be just fine.

If you need an enclosed shroud, look for a '54 Buick (or thereabouts) shroud. All steel, nearly square base tapering to round opening and its vintage! What's not to like?

If you wind up needing a solid shroud I think the body color blue with some firewall white subtle pin striping could let it blend right in and look nice. All the best with the inspection and keep us posted on how everything works out.

Congratulations !! Unfortunately, the state found out that this law is good way to collect sales tax on parts ...... hence all the paperwork ! Safety concerns are secondary. More cars are rejected for sales receipts than construction.

  17. Sometimes I think PA should stand for Pain in the Ass. Glad you got your stuff.

"Enhanced inspection" sounds about as much fun as "Enhanced Interrogation".
