Probably the best chop I have ever seen on a model 40. Perfection ! Thanks for taking us through it with so many photos.
That's not necessary! It's fixable... even if you have to swap lids and do it again... This chop is very nice with very good proportions, angles and lines... it all adds up to a well thought out chop. It's in my top 3 for model 40 5W's... which I think are probably the hardest to do well! 3blap.

Got the welded areas painted and chopped the windshield frame. Time to make templates for the glass and off to the glass guy.

Your proportions are perfect and compliment the full-fender rendition, which means it will be just fine without fenders. I love Bonneville chops too, but your car could be mistaken for an original body. Great job.
Great craftsmanship as usual Ken...proportions and execution spot on.I prefer fendered but that is purely down to the individual.One thing that I would say, and this again is only in my opinion, I would fit skinnier tyres back and front...the ones pictured make the car look heavy from the waist line down.Please don't be offended, I love the car.
Thanx . No problems. I see that too and I will change the tyres later on but I think if I shall go fender less it might work. Atleast I will check it out first. It´s 40 ford rims and 46 Ford hub caps. That would´ve spoiled all the fun for us if they came chopped from factory. Thank you. That´s a cool pic.
I never chopped a 33/34 but I must say this looks like it was done to perfection. I love the approach taken on the back.

A lot off research and looking at photos off other chopped cars sorting out what I liked and not about them.And of course a good photo shop off it before cutting is a big help. Thanks for liking it.
I remembered last night I actually did chop a 34. I know it was a severe chop but I cannot remember how we did it. It was a long time ago. Again your job looks like it came that way!
While waiting for the new glass I dropped the suspension. Reversed he eyes on the mainleafs and got it down one and a half inch or so.
Man, I love the look of this car. I think that you have nailed the "hot rod" look for a full fendered car!
Apart from being a beautiful chop I've learned something about general sheet metal work that I will put to use and in that regard I thank you. What's that I hear you ask?! Well, I always tend to try and minimise the removal of parent metal and often end up with tiny slivers that are difficult, if not impossible, to weld properly. Taking a bolder approach and making a much larger piece, as you have for instance in the corners of the sail panel, makes a ton of sense. Thankyou for that.
