Was sitting working on computer when a buddy messaged me about a "old car" I might be interested in, he had already purchased some stuff from the guy that inherited a bunch of vintage car and motorcycle stuff from his granddad. My buddy is into the Harley stuff so he had no idea about the car. I open the link and it's a 36 ford cabriolet... looked at the pics and it looked pretty solid... message him on fb to ask about it and don't get a response, matter of fact he hadn't even seen my message. I thought maybe my buddy had his number and sure enough he did, so I call the guy and I was the first to contact him. We struck a deal and I went and picked it up with my pop yesterday afternoon when he got off work.... check the pics it's pretty solid. Now I gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with it... flip it or build it? Would be totally cool to have a taildragger, caddy capped, skirt wearing, flathead rumbling custom!!

Came with a an extra hood and grill too! Got a few parts I need to pickup to complete it but they are not Cabriolet specific so they should be easy to find.

I doubt I could sell it but if you don't have the means to do it yourself, (in either time, money or ability) you do what you have to do.

  3. that would be a great start..... it has the hard to find/expensive rear fenders and an extra grille. are all the top irons there?

While on the way home... we lost a tire tread! Big Gurl (59 olds) saved the day with one of her old wheels!!

The top irons are wood header are there.. they are just down inside. I haven't pulled them out yet... I'm gonna clean up the inside and get all the parts out before I try and work them.

Pocket full of cash and an empty trailer!! LOL!!

Color me jealous. Can't go wrong with a custom or a hot rod look on a 36, and a cabriolet to boot. Great score.

  9. Nice find, if you have a bunch of projects "you have not realized, you will never get to", sell them and fund this.

I will probably be told to wash my mouth out, but for me, with that nice a start, it would be a resto rod for sure.

WOW! What a find! Solid and complete.

    One word:
    WESTERGARD!

If you're not going to build it. List it on the HAMB first so (hopefully) the person that buys it does it in an early Custom style.

    Or not :p
No 36 Ford should ever be bastardized into a so called custom.
Henry’s 36 has a classic style of its own.
The best of the 35-39 Fords.

    Inspiration? Maybe.
Good luck no matter what path you take.

I still have the bumper but the car is long gone.

Sell everything else, keep the cabriolet, hop up the flathead, add a columbia rear and a pair of skirts, you are good to go, even though it is a late model! :)
    I am biased though... sm35.jpg

Tough call. If I had other projects I might have to shuffle the deck and move it up the list.

that's what I was thinking... I found a 41 flattie already, and thought a drop axle, pair of skirts and find some seats and it'd be ready for Lonestar Roundup!! LOL!
