Good looking car. I'm thinking something similar for the frame. Channel enough to cover frame and z to help get it closer to the ground.
If like to see some pics. I'll be running a lasalle trans. I did a under dash for my 54 and I really like how it cleans up the firewall.
My advice is to NOT chop it. Keep it tall. If you're looking for a nice frame, the '28-'29 frame is a good fit. The motor of course would be your choice. If you want pictures of my frame and body, I'll be more than happy to provide them.
My video title is Cadflat Videos, Google that phrase and you will find there are 3 being Introduction, Engine & Chassis.
Nice score!!!!! I'm sure it will work out great with the plan you have. Can't wait to see your progress.
I actually prefer them not chopped with a forward leaning rake. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have a custom built 32 frame under my 26 coupe by Pete Eastwood. It has worked out very well even with a severe top chop as I am 6 feet tall and the firewall is recessed 4inches. The car is featured in RODACTION mag,July 1985 issue. I,ve had the car 20yrs and still enjoy it. Hope to learn to post pictures soon...........
To post pictures, select "upload a file", select the pictures you want to post and when the file is loaded select "post" and it is nice to select to post the pictures as "full size images"
There is a lot of room inside compared to a coupe.. Here is one I started, but due to health problems had to sell.. Wish I could have finished it.. Picture shows what I started out with, and when I sold it. These "T"s with the top cut off are really cool, and as I said have a lot of room inside...
Love the project. I think it’s a great start. Of course if we all had money and time and a big garage you wouldn’t even bother with this metal, but being like most you work with what you have! Good luck. Love the ideas.
Those look great, but if your over 5’ tall very hard to drive. Buddy had one that was chopped and channeled. I drove it once, very uncomfortable. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have seen some really nice unchopped cars. It's just so hard for me to vision having one not chopped. Haha
Thanks. I'm really itching to get it going. Once I get a few others moved out I'll be putting in the time on this one.
It was really fortunate to find it the way I did. I've wanted to build one for a while but it wasn't my priority so if it wasn't for the bare bones I would not have gone for it.
royalflushcustom, my car is not channeled, its built as a highboy. Sorry for the delayed answer.............
Not much progress but I planned this to be a slow project collecting parts as funds allow. So I picked up a rebuilt 346 long block. The deal was less than have of the cost of a rebuild kit alone. So now I'm looking for transmission ideas. I'd like traditional suggestions. My first idea is early lasalle trans unless someone out there knows of a butter idea. If you can find a Cad/Lasalle trans or a 6 bolt late 30's Buick transmission, those would be perfect for that engine. Not cheap, but worth the investment if you are going for period stuff.
That is just sweet, sweet , sweet. Looks like a lot of fun and now i am jealous . I think it is one of my favorites now.
