  1. Hey Curt... this was Oldsmobile powered and my friend Paul didn't give it a good appraisal because he didn't know about the history.

I shared the significance about that car and hopefully it helped its value.

    To Curt R, beebing, wingnutz
The Besasie X-1 is owned by a gentleman in Michigan. He plans to restore it.
I have been looking for the X-2 for 15 years with no luck at all.
The X-3 is in my shop west of Waukesha undergoing restoration. All assistance offered in doing this restoration will be happily accepted and might just get you an ice cold beer or 2.
Last I heard of the X-4, it was in a shed/barn/garage in Jefferson County.
The X-3 currently needs to be rewired correctly, the electric top doesn't work, and it needs a radio from the 1957-61 era--or 1 that looks like a late 50's/early 60's radio. It also needs new brakes, a new radiator, fresh paint, etc. Oh yeah, I almost forgot--the rust needs to be scraped off the '57 Chevy frame.

    Hello,

since I originally made this list some five more cars showed up, and Eric Goodrich's "Iron Lung" and the "Baja Bandeeto" by Schenck got finished. I updated the first posts and fixed some links as pics vanished.
Also, I kept on adding pics to my flickr album, including a whole bunch of fantastic high resolution images of the Beatnik Banidt.

    Please enjoy!

  14. I guess I never posted pics of my Mysterion clone on this thread.

You know I was talking with my buddies one day about how light it is in the front end.... well one thing lead to another and I did a little rev and clutch dump and it lifted off the ground a little bit ..I am too scared to try any more than that...LOL!!!

  20. Actually I did! Got it to start and ran it for about a minute. Shut it down to do some adjustments and the tranny puked out about a quart of fluid. Found out Curise-Os are very touchy and you MUST fill the torque converter with fluid before bolting it u or it will pressurize the air and puke. Should be OK now, just haven't gone back and started it again. I hate starting new engines!!

Incidentally, I am going to have the car on display at a book store in Burbank December 10th, weather willing. Will be doing a book signing there too.

Willys36, thanks for those shots of your Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild competition entries. This thread has always been cool, but those models need a thread of their own! I wonder if there are any other surviving examples out there.

  22. Yes, there are many FBCG cars out there, many top prize winners. Mine never won anything.
The youngest Guildsman is in his late 60s so we are very concerned abut the memory of the marvelous institution disappearing forever. We have held half a dozen 'reunions' around the country over the past decade with 50 to 100 cars on display telling the story. That isn't enough. We are now contacting museums around the country asking them to host permanent exhibits. See link,

  23. Those are great links! I remember seeing several guild examples years ago - perhaps in an issue of Car Model(?) and had no idea many of them had interiors! The ones I recall had painted greenhouses..
Hope to see your Mysterion clone one day. Congrats on an enormous job well done!
