  1. I purchased this last month, It is a 224" FB or 43a version of Chev banger. It is stored in LA until January when I come over for the GNRS. @Mac the Yankee

  3. Oh, you lucky dog! Herb has a 224 as well- you two should talk about possible mods :D

Don't really remember, but I thought that all 3 port heads had 1:1 rockers, but it looks like you have 1:1.5- has anything else been done to the engine, that you know of? Also, I like the water pump :)

Good looking stuff Jimmy! Is that an Olds head or did they come with that? Love the lightning holes in the rods. Is there a crank?
I'm leaning more and more to building one of my '28 engines. I've gone too far to quit on the Chevy II 153 but the rest of the build would go better with the older engine. I'll always be watching your progress, we'll maybe not always but as long as I'm around.:)

Please indulge me if possible.......I am on a very steep learning curve on the older 4cyl. Chevrolet engines. I have acquired several 4cyl. Chevrolet engines and parts at two recent farm sales. I have heads with two exhaust ports as well as only one exhaust port. What is the origin and story on the three port heads.
    Thanks

Interesting........I thought I was the only one with lots of Chev II 4 cyl. stock and midget race stuff sitting along the wall with 1928 era 4cyl. stuff.......and all of it gathering dust !!!

Great progress Jimmy, been following it on instagram. You are really moving forward lately. That engine looks like it could tell some stories. Nice buy.

Old tech for me but I was able to view a ton of pictures on your instagram page. They are harder to steal from there but I got a couple . Did you make another engine change? Not the Holman now?

  19. Glad you could view the pics, that is why I posted the direct link to my instagram so people who may not have an account can still view them. People saving pics is to be expected I am ok with that. It is more difficult to save pics off instagram but not impossible.

Engine is still the Holden Starfire 4 that I changed to when I started this redo. I have painted everything and added the Weber and header I built, this maybe why it looks different.

I found this eBay a while ago. I don't know what was built for but can easily be adapted to a 153, '28 Chevy or 3 port Olds.

  21. Six Ball- I'm guessing the intake is for Model A, but who is the manufacturer (my eyes aren't what they used to be)?

Took 10+ years, but I finally found a match for my Winfield S-1-B, so now it's time to start looking at intakes :D!

It doesn't match the A block I have. I has round ports. It doesn't fit 171 or 153 Chevys. It was made by Ellis. The two top bolts come from the inside. The holes are threaded and don't go through. Maybe it bolted to something else before the head or block. A blower?

  23. Gotcha- the Ellis intakes I'm finding are for Mack or International truck

  24. Work has slowed as I am saving to go to the 2018 GNRS next month. I still hope to have first drive before I leave.

  26. So, I went to the 69th GNRS, I'm hooked! I will be back for the 70th in 2019.

Update on the HAMB's least important project.
