Technical mercury truck engine colour

any body know the color code for a 54 mercury pickup flat head engine? been trying to order the paint but bill hirsch has a few greens to choose from and they don't list mercury pickup.

It is testing my memory, but I did own a couple of these trucks, (I presently own a 67 one ton). The engine colour was an olive green, slightly darker than the green in the posting above.

yes the truck is pretty complete and low mileage. ok older resto, that i am bringing up to snuff. Ronnie confirmed that it has the correct flat head.

 

thanks, i was hoping to find a code or source for the right color. any suppliers up there?

had read that first thread before.
the second link mentioned the detroit green. i found this on amazon.

To me, it looks like it should be a little darker, but you have to remember that the vehicles I had were not new, this was back in the early to mid sixties.

the shades can be off a lot on your computer
the best way would be to see the actual chip or color from the can
it also reminds me of the Buick green

 

Have a friend with a 56 Merc, he used a paint (Hirsch, I believe) that he got from a resto place. Very very close match to "Plastic Coat – Alpine Green - Engine" that I was going to use on my Buick engine.

I guess it depends on how close to original you are looking to get.

thanks guys.

 

went down the part store and bought detroit diesel alpine green engine paint by duplicolor. almost a twin to what was on it. the new paint is a little darker/richer and i bet will die back and match what was on it. my guess would be that is what the guy who built the engine used.
still waiting for an answer from tweetle-dee and tweetle-dumb at Bill Hirsch to call me back. dealing with them since last thursday trying to order the paint............F'm.

That's a head, it ain't a flathead though.

It's an engine just paint it RED!

 

What came first the paint or the hair loss?

 

Been using Detroit Diesel Alpine Green for years, real close to original.
