Projects Introduction of me and my new project

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by marshmallow delivery, Nov 12, 2017.

  1. Good morning.
I'm a 39yr old German guy stranded in northern California.
Back in Germany I restored '68 Mustang and her I worked on countless stuff.
Build a 1930 Model A rat rod and just recently I acquired a 1946 Ford Sedan Delivery ok I gotta admit it's just a shell with mild rust damage.
I found this site here and thought I can contribute and benefit of knowledge in here.
    I will post pictures later

  2. yes, pictures of the `46

    Welcome aboard.
You'll be fine here as long as you keep the rat rod talk to yourself.

  5. Thanks
This 46 won't be R-worded it's going to be a pretty stock resto.
Just a matter of time, money and the right information.
I got all the sheetmetal light rust damage on the windshield,
    Driver side rocker

  6. Good work. It’ll be interesting to see German know how applied to an American Hot rod.

memory says the delivery bodies were a steel can supported by a wooden cage... if so check your A and B pillars for rot...now's the time...

  12. A pillars are steel the B's got wood in it but they are solid.
It's much less than what a Model A has got.
My biggest concern is the trunk and the rear valance

  21. Welcome to the H.A.M.B.. I'm waiting on more pics, tap, tap, tap. I do like your sedan delivery. I have a 34 Dodge delivery. They are a little small. So I used seats that will fold forward. That gives you enough room to sleep, or whatever. And yeah we don't use the r.r. word here. Or you may get you mouth washed out with soap.;) Lol Thanks Ron... 20171113_110032.jpg

Nice find, I'm really getting into sedan deliveries. I'm starting on a 53 Ford Courier I picked up a couple months ago.

    Welcome, from Nor Cal!

  28. I appreciate all the welcome wishes.
    I won't use the "R R" word.
I will post pics as I go for now I'm evaluating my situation on necessary rust repair
And a pretty wrinkled rear valance and trunk floor.
Rust repair is going to be
    Rockers left and right
    Floor pan
    Trunk pan
    A pillar bottom

And than I have to manufacture a rear valance and the bottom part of my rear door frame

  30. Small update on my "rust bucket"
I knew that my rear valance was bad and the guts of the cargo door where missing but dang the guy who did the rockers did a shitty job.
Looks like 26 ga tinfoil spot glued together and the rest is just terrible.
    Will be working on that.
Oh I orders some floor board patch panels for e 42-48 passanger car but they fit a car but not in this one.
    Dang gotta make them myself.
