I'm with @Hivolt5.0 - looking good. You did a great job on the driver side window. I always find getting the second one to match the first makes that one more difficult. Carry on, we'll be following.
BrEad, Thanks... Ive seen a bunch of chopped coupes, and the quarter windows generally are out of proportion to the originals... most have a kink, or wrong radius... they don't look bad, but they also don't look much like original shape... I'm trying hard to keep all the windows flowing nicely Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Your attention to detail is what will make the difference between mediocre and excellent. Thanks for sharing your build.
Come on over! Not much to look at yet, but you are welcome all the same! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Enjoyable speaking with you today Trey. I will flag this build and follow along. Looks like you have the makings of a good car there. Cheers. Oh. and let me know what you need for Caddy speed equipment. Maybe I can convince my guy to come off some of it.
Got a little bit more done... welded seam above rear window, and started filling in over pass side quarter window... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Got the front section welded on, and started working metal around joined areas... Looking for some A pillars, so I don’t have to piece my old ones back together Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks for all the positive comments. Got some work done today, cleaning and trimming the tack strip Halo, making it ready to be put back in the hole Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Came by a small problem tonight... the halo is for a 3W coupe, and is a couple inches short front to back.. I’m going to have to make some pieces, and stretch it a little Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The lines on the chop are 1000% better. Nice job so far! I'm digging the drivetrain combo too... I'd love a '34 with a dressed up vintage mill backed by a t-5 and quickchange. Can't go wrong! What ratio will you run in the rear?
Made a rough hammer form, and banged out a piece to extend the halo. Now to make the other side Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Stretched it a couple of inches, and now fitting it to the hole Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Amazing ......Sir .... You do excellent work ! watching in eager anticipation this will be one Wicked Looking Coupe
Thanks 30AV8... I wouldn’t go that far, as I am still learning this stuff as I progress... for years I toiled over doing this myself, but was afraid of the sheer size of job and amount of work. Now I say, anyone who wants to do it should just jump in Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I agree... but I think people should spend time looking at the various chops first and have a game plan! The roof looks super wavy where it meets the halo... is that because the halo is/was missing? Like it'll come together once you start welding it up? 3blap.
Yeah the roof is wavy where the old halo is gone. I’ve done some shrinking, but without some structure, I haven’t had much luck... I thought I’d tack the hoop in, and it would stiffen the area enough for me to dolly and planish this area flatter, and smooth it out some. The back (2) corners near sail panels looked just like that early on Most projects don’t show the ugly sides, but only after it’s done and slicked up... I wanted to get some ugly pics in, so folks can see that just about anything can be fixed, and made to look better Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
3blapcam, I got the driver side welded, and started doing some flattening work. It slow going, as I shrink where needed, then hammer and dolly, rinse, repeat Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
