An older gentleman that lived in my neighborhood and liked to talk about cars passed away about three years ago. He would always talk about his 1st car a 1934 Chevy two door sedan that he bought from the original owner in the late 50s. He proceeded to make a hot rod out of it by replacing the in-line six with a Oldsmobile V8, fabricating his own headers, along with a lot of other 1960-ish hot rod upgrades a teenager would do. He stop driving it as a daily driver in the mid to late 60s. The last time it was on the road was sometime in the 70s. All this time it's been stored in a shed outside of his house. His family reached out to me this past spring and over the summer we finally worked out a time to get it out of the shed and I bought it. My plans are just to make it roadworthy and keep everything as he built it. But that's a project it won't start until my bullet Charger is completed ;-)
Wow, dual quads to boot. It looks to be fairly complete vehicle and a solid body. Some new wheels and lose that nose high stance and you're in business. What suspension, brakes and transmission? Can you put up some interior shots. Where are you located since this is your first post? Welcome to the HAMB.
that's a really neat car! I expect most guys will tell you that you have to change stuff on it to make it look like a proper old hot rod...but it would be neat if you could resist the urge
The black Dodge Charger from the movie Bullet. Looking at the firewall that looks to be a nicely built hot rod. Good score.
The body and frame are rust free and I agree on the wheels. I think that happen sometime in the mid 70s as the original mag wheels which I have two of are very rusty and he just replaced it with something that he thought was cool at the time the tires on those wheels still have tits on them he never drove it after that. The engine is a 394 Olds ultra high compression. It has a Hydro Madic transmission which I believe is a four-speed auto?? And the front brakes are vintage Airhart disc brakes. I will post pictures of the interior when I get back Home ( Edgewater Maryland) I'm down in Florida working the Fort Lauderdale boat show. Thank you Pat
Here is a link to my Bullitt Charger build. You will need Google Chrome with the Photobucket fix to view the pictures. Thanks Pat http://www.pro-touring.com/threads/106855-Modern-Bullitt-Charger-build
Great find, cant wait to see what you do with it. Looks like a good cleaning and lot of gaskets it may be good to go. Wheels -ya gotta buy tires anyway, pick what you like.
I would kill for that car. Awesome Chevy. My buddy has the fastback, you guys should arrange a full on unauthorized re enactment in SF. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Way cool. You wouldn't really have to change anything on that to make it a period perfect car because it already is.
WOW! that thing is awesome you are a lucky man to get to be the new keeper of that car! It seems we are always hearing about how it was done back in the day but to see these cars come out of sheds so many years later so we can actually see them is awesome!
