Don't know if they are dreams or nightmares, but it happens every time, I buy some old rusty junk, bring it home, and then the DREAM driven brain invents ways to make a hot rod out of it...
Got this cut down '30 cowl home a week ago... got a '29 Murray cowl and front doors coming this weekend...
so with a pair of my buddies coupester door "caps", the Murray door skins, and the '30 cowl with a homemade DUVALL windshield, '38 car dash, I would only need a pair of rear quarters and i'ld have a hot rod body....
    ...... then I woke up !

IMG_1947.JPG IMG_1952.JPG I am going to build me a 34 roadster with these and a few other bits I have squirrelled away. It just means more scrounging junk. Which is half the fun anyway!

picked this up the other day, the first piece of a model a hot rod. Then the imagination takes over while looking for just the right motor for it.
For some reason, I think I like the looks of this this 320 ci packard motor. Just as a stock motor it is beautiful. Then I start looking for transmission adapters speed parts IMG_20171013_120817733.jpg and .... I wake up

    here we go again...
had the roadster upper cowl sides [blindowl], was given the '30 closed car struggle buggy cowl... DSCN1556.JPG DSCN1555.JPG have a pair of '30-'31 roadster lower stantions, and a dlx windshield frame....
now that would make a neat coupester cowl...
grabbed a tape measure and put it to use... from outside edge of a '30-'31 roadster lower stantion to the opposite outside is 46.125".
'30-'31 closed car W/S posts outside to outside is 45.5"...
'30-'31 roadster cowlsides are about 1" longer than the '30-'31 closed car cowls...

I dragged this home in 1981 , started dreaming about the ultimate 33 Fordor I could build .
six pics 005.jpg and I ended up with this 33 Fordor Victoria C400 ( with a functional Trunklid ) six pics 002 (1280x1024).jpg

If all of these seem like a 'Bad idea' to build a car from...............
You guys in the States are so very wildly over privileged for choice in car parts. That's all about the norm to build a car from here unless you get VERY lucky on something better!

    Doc,

I don't want to hijack SJ's thread but it is so good to see you on the HAMB again! You have been missed around here quite a bit over the past couple of years. Welcome back!

Doc, yes here it just depends on what you have to start with ($$$$). This is what I started with in 1973 and $125.00. I am also very glad to see you back on here. Scan_20171101 (5).jpg Scan_20171101 (3).jpg DSCN3348 (2).JPG DSCN3342 (3).JPG
