Outstanding VINTAGEHOTRODS....... The guys in the blue and red jackets are Whittier Strokers, Bernie was a member. The guy in the white T, and red ball cap looks like my old friend Bill Cole. He had a 29 roadster with a 41 cad engine at the time.
That's the car that is shown in my avatar - Gene Hewitt's 12 port Wayne Chev powered 32, ran at Bonneville in 1950
Heres my 29 roadster I work on. Bought it this spring from Long Beach. Needs some work on the body and interior but chassie and engine is good it seems. .
Lovely shot Mano...you should post it in the Traditional Garage thread real kosy kool... and the Hotrod looks awesome...
when you put color to it, it makes it more real, more recent than the far off black and white pictures...you can actually believe it happened and you can put yourself there.
Canary Yellow back then whodda thought...thinking Old Airplanes Harvards were Yellow and aviation and hotrod were always hand in hand...Yes B&W is cool but Color is a force of its own as well. Zeph is that the same hotrod as in the thumbnail? Looking again the rolled pan is pointier on the yellow one.
I was thinking could have been years apart same car the yellow and gray one. One thing is they are all 29's. There are sure a number of incredible shots being presented lately...quite the visual treat.
The Lady Bug is one of my all time favorites! I have pictures everywhere of it. I've had dreams about my skinny little ass fitting right in there and being just fine! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
@vintagehotrods Is that flathead six powered Model A the Leithold and Leithold car, later powered by a jimmy six, and currently exists as Jim Kitchen's racercar?
It sure looks like it could be, it was a flathead Ford six. Check this thread out: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/his-story-of-stan-back-the-roadster.1012117/
Thanks Mano...your garage has the look down to a T. The Hotrod just finalizes the ambience. Link is below. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/traditional-garage.1083425/
Jimmy B, The present owner called yesterday. I'm going up in the next few days to get more pictures and information about this car. He is pretty knowledgable about the history. He has some trophies from LA shows. He would also like anything you or others here have. Is there anything special we need pictures of?
How about this one, it sat in a damp basement for 29 years until I bought it about 6 weeks ago and spent a week working on it.
It's the 106 unless he rolled it. OH no, it would be the 901. Just kidding' you. Although he is keeping it as close as he can there have been some changes. Most happened before he got the car. I'll try to do it this week end.
Great news, with taking pics get whole shots of the car at all different angles. Take pics underneath, engine, interior and pics of the small details or anything that stands out. I look forward to seeing some detailed shots, thanks!
A "Teaser" for Jimmy B and the rest with interest in Marvin Webb's 106. I went to see Ralph today. By the time I got the tour, took some pictures.and discussed history I had to turn down a ride. Just out of time. I'll be back. First some pictures of pictures. Sorry for the glare from flash and glass. Some attempted close ups from a 1992 Rod & Custom article when Ralph found the car. A 1949 Trophy. A picture of Marvin by a custom Caddy that towed the roadster maybe to Bonneville with an inscription to Ralph from Dennis, and a vintage picture of Dennis sitting in the roadster when he was 5.
