  1. Grate to see this 57 come together. Mine was in Body Shop Prison for so long, now that it's back I can't seem to get the fire lit again. Glad your making progress.

What's really kinda neat is that I decoded the id plates on both 57's...both are from the Dallas Plant and 2 months apart,,,,, August 3rd 1957 and October 13th 1957......I like that...... sisters......

That sound deadener is used by GM in the factory for production cars today.. bought it thru NAPA.....HALF the price of stuff like Dynamat or similar.....

  4. Nice score on the other '57 (sis), looks great all cleaned up. I like that look, black on black with black rims and center caps. Kind of a dream of mine on that look to a early Nova.
Also equally nice score is the new engine. Set up with the top loader should be a blast to drive. I'll be watchin'

  6. Jeff, I'm a real fan. My first car was a 57 Fairlane 4 door. That may have been before you were born. :) I also have a long history with fe motors. Everything from a 352 in a 58 Ford to a SOHC 427 in a gas dragster. However, I want to drive all my stuff and be good. Are you going to upgrade suspension and brakes? The float down the highway is easily remembered but not a real good thing today. :) I also put a 429 in my 67 Shelby GT350 just because. I like all this stuff. I was asked yesterday "how many hot rods do you need"? Looking in your shop, I see we think in similar terms. I'd like to meet you some day. Best wishes on your projects.

Looking great ! I passed on a 58 custom , one ower years ago .it was el cheap o , no back seat , no heat , no roll down rear windows . Guy was 81 YO, and car was garage kept , it still had salt cancer damages . One of sorriest moves in my hot rod history ! The FE , is perfect , they are built like tanks and run cool as a submarine . Use the baldy covers , and it will look stock , 3 speed shifter knob , traction masters in the rear , 5 leafs rt rear , 4 lt rear . Look out , it will make Ole Henry proud

  10. The gold paint on that 460 gives it a real nice vintage vibe-I like it
Doesn't hurt the black on black is just bad ass
Then a 428 with a top loader-jeez I am learning there are ways to win the lottery without buying a ticket.
Congrats on your latest hoard !

  12. I'd be real tempted to put a buffer to that paint. I bet she'd shine up real nice! :)

Yes.Upgragdes are rear suspension.. going from 4 leaf to 6... better front brakes and an aftermarket front sway bar....there is one on the market that is 1 1/8 which will greatly improve the handling of the car.The second 57 already has a 58 box which is a better design than 57.. and gives a little extra clearance for the header/exhaust system.

Did the 57 have a rear sway bar or will you install a aftermarket kit ? I have a 57 4 door and I'm debating about installing a rear sway bar .

I am not putting a rear sway bar on either 57 Pete.I am putting on a SWTB Sway bar on the front of each car.The factory 57 sway bar(58 too) is only 3/4 of an inch thick and is pretty much useless... by using the South West T-Bird unit.. Handling is improves by a ton. The SWTB sway bar set up is 1-1/8 thick. The whole kit is about $350 and well worth it.
    As simple bolt in.
I believe Concours sells the same kit.
There is another kit by Addco..... but it's not beefy like the SWTB unit.
A rear sway bar requires some frame mods... and i don't like the look of how it hangs down in the breeze.
