Projects 33 Five Window Chop

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Kenneth31coupe, Oct 20, 2017.

  1. So now it´s time to cut my 33 5w. Have planned this for a while now and also had Rik Hoving to make a photo shop for me after my specs.Decided to take out 4 inches in the A-pillar and 3 1/2 inches on the c-pillar just behind the quarterwindow and the roof will not be extended.I´ve planned to line up the roof at the b-pillars and tilt a-pillars backwards and reshape the c-pillar and sailpanel to fit . Not the normal way to do it on these cars but I think the windscreen gets a more pleasing angle and flows with the rear of the hoodside.

    Rendering Rik made for me

P1030857.JPG Cut out the lower corner of the character line and cut a vertical relief cut in the sailpanel

P1030850.JPG Here I´ve moved the lower corner of the quarterwindow forward and the character line lined up again P1030858.JPG P1030860.JPG P1030854.JPG P1030845.JPG

  6. You always make it look too easy! What's the story on the rest of the car? Flathead?

The side profile shot from Rik Hoving is beautiful. I look forward to seeing the finished car!

Awesome, love that the ankle of the 'A' pillar is the same as the angle off the vertical as the front leading edge of the door and flows well. You still have good forward vision despite being chopped.

  19. Yes there´s a 59 a with a 3 speed and stock rear with 3.78 gears in it currently but I have plans for a 50 Merc engine with 5 speed and a Halibrand rearend. Have all the parts .

Looks almost like a 'factory custom'. Very sneaky while being radical at the same time. Very nicely done.

Beautiful job. Can you post cutting down the inside window moldings? Would also like to see how the rear window came out.

  25. Thanks! Haven´t got there yet but pics will come

Thank you. Working on the rear window and moldings will come.

I love this car - it's got great patina. You're doing a great job. I like the thoughtful approach you're taking. Hope you'll be able to bring it back to the UK once it's done.

    Mart.

  27. Hi Mart! Nice to speak with you at Prescott Hill. I will bring it back when I have switched drive line and rebuilt the chassie. Must race it at Pendine again. That was a great experience and a great event.
