Somebody help... i am doing a 59ab into a 30 sedan. I have a 8b transmission 3 speed with overdrive. Can that fit on my motor. Or does anyone have any ideas instead of a t5 conversion or aod. Thank you so much. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here is another option if you can find one the 49-50 Mercury trans bolts right up to the 59 series block
I used the MEC adapter at first in my 8BA powered '35 sedan with a 3.55 rear. Really a 3 spd + OD in 4th. I didn't like the ratio spread in the gears and needed a lower 1st gear so changed over to a T-5.
There is a big jump from second to third and another big jump from third to fourth. But it's at the sacrifice of having the shifter in the right place
Would it be better with 3:78 rear gears? And the rts trans comes in 2 different ratios,a close and wide,Which is better?
There are actually 3 different ratio sets in the RTS transmissions. Mine has the tallest overdrive gear of .70. I have 3.78 rear gears and 7.00 X 16 rear tires. That all translates into 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. Ideally I would try to get the .78 overdrive version. So, to get e little more RPM at 70, I have a set of 4.44 gears I am going to swap in, but my first and second gears are about right now. I don't think the 4.44 wont have as much affect on the final drive ratio in first and second as it does on the overdrive.
I got myself a hogshead adapter for 80 bucks... i think i am going to run the t5 ford. I read good things about this execpt the shifter location is further back Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Sorry to ask this question on such an old post, post but, do you remember the position/ dimension from a known point on the engine? Thanks
