  4. I just would like to say thanks for sharing everyone. Jigger I like your pinup girls. Here's a drawing that Sam (rusty 1 ) did and sent to me back in 1990. I've had it on my art wall ever since. He has such a cool style! So have a great Friday. Ron... 20170929_011510.jpg

Great thread! Lots of spam this time of night with similar heading, almost reported this. I tag at least a few a week?
Damn I would have felt like an ass about this. Keep the Hot Rod art coming!!!

  11. To add to the chaos and confusion and sensory overload, here's a bit of a twist on an image I did a while back...

    Hello,

Back in 1953, we were anxious for something that went fast. Bicycles were already customized and were ok. Our roller skates just did not do it anymore. So, with a couple of 2x4 boards, a broom handle and our steel roller skates, we created a T handle scooter. We loved all moving things. Tricycles, bicycles, lawnmowers, doodlebugs, and go karts, But, as we got older, cars came into the picture and the other things just faded into memories.

Those times passed by, but our thoughts always went back to those good old days. Taking apart new shiny steel wheel roller skates to nail onto a 2x4 and a box to make a scooter. Then later on, taking off that box to make a early skateboard… That was a fun time experimenting, eventhough we got #$#@ from our mother for ruining perfectly good roller skates.

Jump up many years later and I wanted to create a similar “moving” concept for my son. Finding old skateboards for little money, being a designer and making it safe for a little kid to tear up the sidewalks…

Since this was a hobby that turned into a small business, we had to have a cool delivery vehicle to show up at skate shops and client houses all over So Cal. The first one was a 1965 Chevelle 2 door wagon. The whole car was similar to our old 65 El Camino, so we knew it would be reliable.

The second choice was to get another 40 Ford Sedan Delivery (would have been our third Ford Sedan Delivery) and set it up with an SBC, a/c, auto, with logos and printing on the sides.

Our pocket book was smaller than our actual bank account, so those vehicles were put on hold. The small business was starting to get off the ground down in the Dana Point Harbor and other skate shops. It was advertised in the local Dealer Action Sports Catalog, too. But, after consulting with a friend who was a lawyer, he scared us to death with paralyzing, liability and payouts. He said we would have to spend $15K for a million dollar liability policy to cover our lives and assets. What???

When my wife heard this, ($15k for $1 mil) a giant “factory recall” was put in place and no “Sunshine Scooters” were out there in the So Cal community or in shops. (We deemed it a safety issue with the handles and got every scooter back) Money went back to the buyers, but we were prepared for this fiasco.
    upload_2017-9-29_4-7-41.png
Our family was the only ones to still use the scooters at various "kid" parties and outings. I used my “adult size” flamed one for those “scoots” down the long trail to Trestles Beach in North San Diego County, much to the amazement to others that were walking.

A well used, Surf Scooter for adults…

    “When we were young,
We were small, but we didn’t know it.
    When you were hurt,
You would smile so you didn’t show it”

Aside: With in several years, a huge corporate business came out with the Razor Scooter and made zillions. Oh well…our family of scooters are all resting nicely in the attic, these days.

When she was little, our granddaughter loved using these "Sunshine Scooters," then moved on to the Razors. So, my wife got the adult size Razor and I used my "flame" special scooter for our outings in the parks and beach boardwalks.

One of our weekly Cruise Nights was near our locally famous House Of Guitars. On a few occasions they would bring out some of their vintage equipment to photograph with the cars. Last week I spotted my 56 and a couple of my friends rides in their photo gallery.
