I luv old drag photos as they were in the era I grew up but I wish they were in an old drag thread instead of this Vintage Car one.

Hey Gary you were the one pissing and moaning about a guy who called you on a obvious non vintage picture you posted, and telling him to do some picture posting of his own--RIGHT!

So I took your advice and went and did a little searching found what I think is a cool picture, didn't have a clue it had been posted before or was photo shopped, and I damn sure am not going to look at almost 5,000 pages to see if it had been posted before, just trying to contribute a little. guess you don't like people posting after all HUMMMM...

There I deleted it, don't wont to disturb your delicate sensibility's.

In 1962, at the Texaco service station where I worked, we had a home made sign that said: ROAD MAPS REFOLDED, .20 CENTS

    Hello,

This old Golden Gate photo must have been taken during a nice calm San Francisco day weather wise. (a rarity) The construction was so complex and scary, but those brave guys got it done. No big storm from Alaska pounding the support bases or the shore. The most unusual thing is that it gets huge ocean swells and waves from all directions, most of the year.

It is north from Alaska during the winter and when a sneaker Southern hurricane moves far enough out into the Pacific, those old hurricanes that originated from Mexico just keep pumping up the California coast in the spring and summer. Needless to say, it wraps around the Southern Peninsula to create great riding waves inside of the bay, on the San Francisco side at Fort Point.

Fort Point looking toward Marin County Headlands

I was up there in 1993 visiting my brother in the UC San Francisco Hospital. I looked at the great waves, longing for my board, but had other business to take care of during this visit. When my brother was ready to leave the hospital, (he was in no shape to surf) he said, “Let’s go to the Fort Point to check out the waves…” Once a surfer, always a surfer.

Besides, two big guys in a small 3 cylinder Geo convertible with suitcases, had a hard enough time going up and down those SF hills, let alone carrying two extra surfboards and paraphernalia.
