Squablow - I really admire what you are accomplishing with this build. Your coupe is what this thread is all about, showing it is possible to build a nice coupe from pieces. Keep at it, it will come together!

Here's a 34 three window that was built in the early 60's, or so the story goes. It was maroon with a Studebaker V8 engine, and cruised the streets of Vancouver, B.C. These pics were taken a few years ago, hopefully this hot rod is rebuilt back to its former glory. Wayne Miller 004.JPG Wayne Miller 010.JPG

With those measurements and a '52 Ford roof skin to cut up to make panels, I was able to get the coupe all into one piece. It's still pretty rough but at least it's a whole body now. In the one pic you can see my '34 sedan body which is a bit nicer starting point, I'm going to keep that one as a builder and sell off this '33, minus the floorpan that's under it in these pics, which the '34 needs.

Armed with the knowledge (and templates and spare parts) that I've gained from this '33 I think I can make an even better '34.

Here's what the quarters looked like all roughed in.

This 34 used to belong to my dad in the late 60's - early 70's. He traded it to a guy who restored it 30+ years later and died not long after it was completed. It was a really shitty restoration, based on a worn out chassis. Some friends of mine bought it from the widow and ended up turning it back into a hotrod once they realized how poorly it drove. Its got kind of a cool patina, even though the lacquer is only about 10 years old. I got to go for a ride in it a couple of weeks ago, and it has almost inspired me to get back on my own 33 3 window project.

If you bought it just to flip, Id reconsider a heavy chop. Not everyone likes them cut hard so you will reduce your buyers pool. It would eliminate me. But everyone loves a standard 3" haircut.

I'm into the 6"s with my Tudor, Slam it Pete! Especially if it's already from pieces.
I almost hate un-chopped hot rods. There's other guys out there like me.
The biggest eye opener I've had since becoming interested in traditional rides is that there is way way way more of these cars out there for what a big deal everyone makes of them.
I was on my way to the gym with the kids the other day. I live in a lame town, and a lady drives past us in a 32 Vicky pulling a trailer on just another old Tuesday evening. I think the restores can handle one more car being made cool.

Go back to post #905 and check out that cool 34 Ford three window, a pic placed by Hamber Richard Head - otherwise known as Dave. Well Dave sent me some earlier pics of that same three window, along with the story behind it. His dad Tim owned the car for a few years back in the early 70's - that's Tim in one of the pics standing proudly beside the coupe that he just towed home. The coupe was traded off and went through some owners before Dave came across it again a few years ago. Thankfully the coupe has always remained close to home. Dave was hired to do some work on it for the current owners - I'm sure it felt great to work on a hot rod once owned by his dad. This coupe is a classic, a pure traditional hot rod for sure. Thanks for the story, Dave, and keep an eye on the coupe! dads3w1.jpg

5 years to the day since I bought mine and finally took it for its first drive. My wife went with me as she does on all first drives and commented [ pretty rough]! 0922171741.jpg

My mom still reminds him how stupid he was to trade that car for a 34 chevy 4dr sedan.

Tim would no doubt like to have that trade back, but he did pass on the hot rod torch to Dave (Hamber Richard Head). Dave is currently working on his 1933 Ford three window coupe, a project that was put on hold for awhile to build the two 32 three window coupes you see here - the coupes made it to Deuce Days in Victoria, B.C. in July 2016. Dave, you do fantastic work! 13741338_1572305926405315_1205154779_n.jpg

Well I will be excited to see if I can get this to some sort of finish line now that a lot of heavy lifting has been done.

Awesome! Cool to see you on here Chris, I hope this car gets a build thread. I might also have a free bonus item for you to go along with the body if I can find it.
