This is the second year the Kontinental crew has made the trip from Austin to Central City, CO. for the Hot Rod Hill Climb. With the Bayou Roundup in Lafayette, LA being only a couple weeks away, some guys had to stay close to get things done, so there were fewer of us this go-around making the trip up north. Reggie and Johanna Hill were in their '34 5w, Ben and Laura Thomas took their Aussie RHD '32 roadster, and Joyce and I were in the '32 tudor. Aside from a dead alternator that necessitated battery rotations Wed thru Fri and one quick flatty fuel pump swap, we made the 2100-mile round trip without issue!

Here's my pics. The nutshell is thus:
    • WED - Austin, TX to Taos, NM
    • THURS - Taos, NM to Denver, CO for the Deluxe Speed Shop Open House, then on to Central City, CO for the event
    • FRI - Reliability Run from Golden, CO into the mountains and such... gorgeous!!
    • SAT - The Hot Rod Hill Climb!!
    • SUN - Left Colorado for overnight in Wellington, TX
    • MON - Back home!!

    Very good post, Thank You.
The one thing I noticed was on the drive back, when I got to a "normal" altitude, I felt superhuman, it had to be from the oxygen in the denser air.

    Hey Blake !
Can you tell me what the color/finish is on this Coupe?
Appears to be a 'satin' finish.... the color shade I'm very interested in.
    Can you help?

Agree that it's a satin finish, but you'd have to contact Cory Taulbert for the details on the brand, color, etc. I can pass along the request...

@AHotRod - the color is 1940 Ford Mandarin Maroon. It's 2k single stage urethane with some flattener added to it.

How many hot rods does Reggie have? I don't think I've ever seen him in the same car twice.
