  1. Nice grab, Chris. I have no info regarding the car's history, sorry.

As far as the flared door hinges go, I think HRM did a how to on fabricating them with none other than George Barriss wielding the torch. Probably mid 50's, just can't remember that far back.

Stab a injected 301 with a 4 speed in there. Full fendered with those slicks hangin out the back. Big burnouts and lift those front wheels off the ground. Drag coupes for the win!

Don't sell it! I know you will do it as good as any would around here. I'm subscribed for a reason.

  12. I'm sure it will be bad ass !

  13. Tail lights look like 51-52 Pontiacs...a little bigger than '48-50s but same style. They had plastic lenses.

  14. The 48-50 have plastic lenses too. You may be right, these holes are the same shape and two studs to hold them on, just slightly bigger.

  15. I know! Time will tell what I do. Regardless it will be an OHV hot rod. I have Cad power I'd like to use but a mean SBC and 4 speed would be super fun (and probably cheaper). I'm just not sure what I want to do body/fender wise.

  16. No salt flats car for me, that seems to be what everyone does with 33/34's. I wanna do a drag coupe (or drag inspired street coupe).

Oh I know, I was just giving you a hard time.

Drag coupes > salt flat coupes. (In my opinion, nobody threaten to beat me over such a heinous statement).

I vote Olds or SBC power.

There is a Blue 32 Ford 5 Window Coupe built the way that you are describing (Magnesium 5 Spokes, Magneto etc.) in Hotrod Deluxe that is on the Magazine Stands now. Check it out for inspiration.

    Thank You Chris !!!
I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only building a Hot Rod Drag Coupe (daily street driver) .
After a while, one begins to think that the 'real' hot rod circle is shrinking and making them all to look alike.

Nice score man. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Let's see. Full gendered, purple paint, chrome rims and an early 283.

I saw when Marcy posted that and it sure seemed like a cool car. I'm glad you got it. I'm kinda jealous! Haha. Those hinge flairs do look familiar. I watched a lot of footage of the Oklahoma Nats and didn't see it. I've also looked through a lot of old Caddo Mills drag strip photos. That would be a search for you. That would have been a popular track for that car to have attended based on location. Congrats Chris.

  22. Thanks for that Jason, I will search Caddo Mills. I am not familiar with that area of the country at all, so I appreciate the lead.

  23. I do just sit and look at this car, picturing a hot small block and 4 speed in it.

  24. Looks like it has had some pretty fancy work done to it for a car that was probably raced. The history may include someone's hot rod/custom originally that got turned into a race car. The reason mention that is that I pitted on a car once that had been a show car that turned race car.

The tail lights may have been early '60s Impala, that was a common mod back this way in the '60s and into the '70s. Something to try if you have a couple laying around.

OK all of that is conjecture, and worth about as much as a buck on buck fifty beer night, but it is a really cool old heap, good score.

I like the red coupe with the red windows. You should color coordinate your windows too.

My Dad's 32 coupe body was an old hot rod from WAY back, but it needed some new doors. When we chopped and fitted them about 25 years ago we also did the faired hinges. We welded in sheetmetal to do the fairings, not all lead like yours.
