This is Kyle and his '56 F100 with a blown small block Chevy. I saw him working on it and had to stop.

    Hello,

Here is an interesting look at a local So Cal car event that happened on Sunday. We were on our way to take our granddaughter to a beach party at Salt Creek Beach, just around the corner. But, the local Dana Point Lantern District Car Show happened to be going on when we drove through Dana Point. It was on the street closer to the ocean, one block over from PCH Highway 1. Salt Creek Beach and the Ritz Carlton is just a couple of blocks North, towards Laguna Beach on PCH.

We have been here before and know that a lot of the great looking So Cal cars go to this show because of the locale. The Dana Point Harbor is a block down the hill, the sandy beaches are just a few more blocks away and the ocean plays tricks with the weather because of the huge cliff. But, the views from the top of the cliff are outstanding and worth it just to sit and ponder.

Luckily, I happened to photograph one of my favorite surf shops in the area. Infinity Surf Shop on Del Prado, the car show street. They have supplied me with several surfboards over the years, with the owners going all the way back to 1960’s humble beginnings. They make and supply short boards, long boards, and the ever popular SUP boards and equipment. Something for everyone…

This being a beach town, obviously woodies are present in large numbers. Top quality woody builders are scattered all over the local area. Every year in April, the Southern California Woody Club puts on the “Doheny Wood” event just down the way at Doheny State Beach. It is a twenty year on going event.

IMG_1424.JPG About 500 hot rods at the 35th Outriders Picnic. Here's a photo of the back parking area.... About 3 times the size of the front.

Say what you will about the lowriders, they have some fantastic looking cars that appear to have
been put together well. They certainly stand out, they perpetuate a heritage, and can bring looks
of amazement from people who would barely acknowledge most cars. In the car world of patina,
faux patina and barn finds it's kool to see cars that are ready to punch you in the face with their
looks, and there are no two that look alike.

  12. Don't get me wrong, I like lowriders for the same reasons. However I don't like contemporary oversize wheels on anything.

Wojojo, I was hoping you wouldn't take my comment the wrong way. Like you, I can't stand the 22s,
or whatever size is hip in the 'hood, and there are more than a few of those cars running around
Chicago. If I was driving, and hopping, two tons of Impala or Le Sabre I wouldn't put much faith
    in a 14x6 wheel, either.
