Does anyone know if the rear fenders on a 49 Mercury are the same behind the wheel well from a 2 door to 4 door models. I have a two door but can get four door fenders easier. Also looking for front fender patch panels. Anyone know if they exist or have had experience in repairing these areas would be great to hear from you. Thanks. Level2526. Check out the possibility that the 1951 Ford front fender patch panel may be cut and lengthened to fit the 49-51 Merc. http://shoebox-central.com/1949-1950-1951-ford-lower-rear-quarter-panel-rust-repair-patch-panel
I don't have an answer for you, and I haven't gone through this whole thread, but there may be some help here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1949-1951-mercury-parts-reproduction-parts-list.331564/ Dave
The rear part of the quarters is the same. Have done a number of Mercs over the years and know of nobody who makes quality repair panels for them. Although C A R S out of Berkley Mi. { a tri five chevy parts vendor did have some nice lower rear quarter panels on display at back to the 50s a couple years back , but have no way of knowing how they fit. Merc parts have very few after market sources. The link posted earlier is the best source I have found. Mine is rust free, I was very lucky. Good luck. Larry
One Bad 51 Merc said it all, the rear part of the 4 door quarter (past the wheel opening) is the same, although that pic you posted seems to show the front part of the quarter? Or am I just seeing it wrong? No one makes jack shit for these cars and it's mystifying to me. I bought the only currently available rockers and floor pans for my '51 and they were pretty much a joke. Price was right, we were able to use some sections but the fit was shit. I've heard that those big quarter panel patch panels are pretty low quality as well although I've never laid hands on one. The Mercs are very popular, and also very prone to rust. In an age where some of the more popular bodies are reproduced in their entirity, and many others have lots of sheetmetal available, I'm blown away that nothing of any real quality is made for these cars. Huge, huge opportunity for someone out there with the ability to make panels.
The fender skirts fit both the 2 & 4 doors if that's any help, even the 51 skirts. They did make a piss poor glass body Merc several years ago.
Lordz of Kustomz has some quarters for sale $975 each. I bought some rear quarters of eBay they are just patch panels. $400 each. Front fenders I don't see any patch panels available, have to find some fenders or fix yours. Matt Townsend makes some floor boards and inner rockers probably a few others parts. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.

Looking for 1950 Mercury 2 dr. coupe bolt on Rt. lower quarter panel. I bought the last 4 Lefts from Sherman who has been bought out by Meyer distributing. CarsInc. has no more. All suppliers in the country got the replacement quarters from the same guy that did the tooling. Mold broke and they melted it down for scrap. Thank God for Matt Townsend out of Riverside,Ca. for repairing and producing replacement parts for Mercs.
