Lol, this ones from about 2 months ago still not completely up to date... but its what I got at the moment. Being an outdoor project everytime I sand something to bare metal I rattle can it. I know eventually I'll be sanding, brake cleaning and acetoning all of it off again so I can lay some epoxy primer down. What can I say poor boy got poor boy ways.

Last year, I met Robert, who's mom had posted an open request for anybody with a cool car or truck, to bring it to the Crane City Park, in hopes to giving her son a cool "Hot Rod" birthday. Since I drove the coupe, last year, I figured it was the '40 stake truck's turn this year. It just so happens that it was Robert's favorite at his 18th Birthday Bash.

While the '40 Fords are something special to me, it's the places that they take me, and the people that I get to meet and visit with, that makes them even more enjoyable!

(btw, the T-shirt that Robert is wearing is the 2016 Hot Rod Hundred t-shirt that I gave him for his 17th birthday, and it featured my coupe on the back)

Right on the money, Bret! It is not the destination but the folks you meet on the way. The missus and I have great conversations in the Market Basket parking lot, the burger joint, and just everyday travels. We rarely go to "events" anymore, we just putt around. And when you can combine that with making someone special feel happy, well my friend you hit the cosmic lottery. Good on you!

I'll try this again... somehow when I tried this the first time, it din't go as planned. I ended up posting the pictures more than once. I'm not even sure how I did that, so I deleted it and now I'll try again. These were taken last weekend at Nats North in Kalamazoo, some at motels and some at the show.

Going to work in the morning is a little easier when you have this to greet you as you head out the door.

Our favorite type ford was represented at the Colorado hill climb this year by this fine 40 coupe. Picture taken by winduptoy.

Somebody asked me how I know I haven't reposted a picture given how long this thread has been active and how many pics have been posted. My response was that a '40 Ford always warrants a second look and perhaps more. The lines are classic and to me it is a quintessential hot rod.

The 39-40 Ford has always been one of my favs, and i think one of the best things about these late 30's-mid 40's Fords is that you don't have to do a lot to the body or overall design to make it look good.

So it looks like I was incorrect on labeling this coupe a 40. It is actually a 39 with some tasteful 40 pieces swapped out. Nicely done!

I have always hated these dolls at car shows but this picture (read the sign on the doll) made me chuckle.
