I have been gathering parts for this for the last 15yrs and I am just about done. Drive train is a 401 Nailhead with a TH400. I plan on taking it on it's first out of town trip on the 14th of Sept. to the Hotrod Hill Climb. So far everything is working nicely.
Beautiful car, great combo, guess the firewall is 'tunneled', Buicks are long in the block. This is cool to me, Positively 'arresting'! Much as it is 'familiar': In 1963, 'trades' were real big in San Jose (CA) I had found a rough '54 Corvette with a 322 Buick Nail in it, with a small Buick box (floorshift, '37 'small', not the big Roadmaster box) Hadn't yet gotten it running, some guy got wind that I had this white 'Vette... he came over, asked to see it, said he wanted it. I was firm at $850, (Big bucks! LOL) the fellow said he had to sell his 'roadster' first. I asked, and he told. It was a '34 Ford roadster...I drooled...we went to his house, and it really was a '34 roadster! ...and it was WHITE, just like the 'Vette. Get ready, here comes the 'lightning bolt'. It also had a 322 Buick in it, a 1954, with Buick stick bellhousing, and the ROADMASTER box! Floorshift, the one that takes some LaSalle gears... Hard shifting, stiff synchros, Just right! We traded straight across, but when he delivered the roadster, I agreed to get the Corvette running for him. Still a 'long deal'... Took a few days...but I had a '34 roadster! With a NAIL in it! Loved that car...
I have Nailheads in all my hotrods, not sure why i just like them. I will take some pics of the engine and firewall.
Beautiful roadster, AND it's got a Nailhead instead of the usual SBC. You don't see many Model 40 roadsters so it's a pleasant change from all the A's and 32's. What headers are those and how far back did you move the firewall as it's hard to tell with all that shiny black paint?
Absolutely perfect the only thing I would change is the name on the title!! Randy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
