Thanks. I'm going to drive it soon, but I can't stand the rust. I can live with faded paint, chipped paint and more than 1 color, but I have to fix rust and holes.

  3. Plans?????? I think my first order of the day if it was mine would be to get the lights wired and drive it. LOL That truck has The 'Beaner written all over it just like it sets. ;)

@joel neat score man. I like it a ton.

I was going to patch in the headlight wires, but I ordered a complete harness yesterday. I have to clean up the headlight buckets anyway. Maybe I can steal a couple of days this weekend to get it on the road.

What size tires did you put on the truck? Is it all stock suspension?

5.90-15 front and 8.20-15 rear. The front is lower than it should be because the wrap around 2nd leaf is missing. The main is bending backwards; I think about the same effect as a reversed eye spring.

It will remain as it is, except for some preservation efforts right now. Yesterday, I got the parts to install rear shocks. The wiring should be here tomorrow and I can't completely abandon the body work on the coupe. Maybe in a week I'll be on the road with the truck

I had to weld a pin hole in the seal trough, but the back is ready for the new seal. Shiney paint really shows the dings.

A little flat clear should help hide the dings a little. Make her safe and drive her Joel.

I kind of liked the new blue; when I go to the hardware store, maybe I' see if they have it in quarts.:) I'm fixing the choke rod so it will be easier to start. I also have to put the headlight buckets back in and I'll be ready to install the new harness. This afternoon I'm going to put some time in on the coupe fenders.

I installed a new choke rod and rejuvenated the headlight buckets and added the new wiring from Tyree Harris. The rest of the harness should be in by the end of today. I hope that means 5:00 and not midnight. View attachment 3621950 IMG_0633 (800x600).jpg IMG_0635 (800x545).jpg

Wrong again. I got the headlight wiring back to the firewall and started removing the old wiring. I pulled the gauge cluster to get better access.... wow! It was nasty. I worked on cleaning that up and since I had the spray cans out, I cleaned the rust off the dash. I just needed an excuse to clean up that mess.

I did get the headlights in; they just don't have any power yet. Oh, I happened to have a spray can whose cap matches the glove box door.

  18. Good score. Friend of mine has a 41 with a helper spring in back. Its is so firm it does not need shocks. Just good springs in the seat bottom. Check to see if you have the overload spring and if you do don't waste money on shocks.

You have 2 very nice trucks. I think that I like the satin body with shiny fenders. It's like a one color 2 tone.
No helper and actually some leaves removed; it's pretty bouncy in the back.

    Thank you very much!
I had not seen this combo done on anything from this vintage. It is fairly common on muscle cars though. Figured I would give it a try and see how I liked it. As you can see I have kept it this way

The cab wiring and wiring forward of the firewall is done. I'm working on the tail section and replacing the copper fuel line while I'm at it. IMG_0642 (800x600).jpg IMG_0643 (800x564).jpg

I wasn't going to do this, but things came up that made it easier to remove the bed to finish the wiring and install the rear shocks. I'll probably do some preservation on the back of the cab. I'm putting a new bed on so, if anyone here needs a bed project contact me. I'm saving time and spending my kids inheritance. IMG_0645 (800x749).jpg

Notice the flat green paint on the cab; is that military or just a faded Ford color?

  30. This is what it is supposed to look like Joel. This is Quality Restorations work, cast in translucent as mine was originally. A beautiful wheel for sure.
Love the truck, keep it up. [IMG]
