Makes me remember the 50s&60s with seeing the fender skirts and Caddy Sombrero cars with a slight tail rake. May do that with mine someday:cool:

I still love the old style gas classes at the drags when I was going to Dover Dragway in Wingdale, NY ('59-'62) when guys often drove to the races, competed by bolting on slicks and opening their exhaust cutouts, and then hopefully drove home. Or they put their car on a tow bar, wrote "car in tow" on the back window and flat towed to the races. Chevy coupes were popular but you saw '40 Fords too.

Next is a local Wednesday Night Rotary Club Show in Point Pleasant, NJ. Just to avoid confusion, I have a black '40 Fordor, but NOT this one.

Last up is Maplegrove Dragway Glory Days Nostalgia Drags. Not many '40 Fords, so I'll throw in a Merc.

Don't know where you got this picture but I sure appreciate you posting it. That is my 40 next to a good friends El Camino. Just recently lost my friend and this is the only picture I have of our cars together. Thanks.

Every '39 I ever saw had the windshield wipers above the windshield, those are below.

Geez, Pontnaki23, love that "praypul" coupe! Louvers, lakes pipes, nerf bars, white walls, Moon eyes in the quarter windows, all the trappings of the way they were in my misspent youth.

  23. .............If someone told me they were going to paint their '40 Purple and put Red wheels on it I might tell them they were crazy. I would be the crazy one 'cause that car looks bitchin', and the color combination is right on.:)

The purple Coupe was part of the '40 Ford 75th anniversary at the GNRS in 2015.
