Event Coverage road trip: rte 6 coast to coast.

no travel update yet. he is still battling the health insurance but it should be cleared up this weekend......

Just met a guy at gatlinburg T meet that just finished 14.000 in a t bucket called "SST" Tough people.

 

I been wanting to do rt6 or 20 or 54 since I found they all go coast to coast!! Good for him..For me life keeps getting in the way but a Model A will be so cool as ya get to see alot when not on the big highways..Although I'm in CT

Seb , Left out on Rt 6 in my home town and went all the way to the eastern end in a 59 Ford station wagon and two surfboards, while still in high school.
Last year, I was at the western end in Bishop ,Ca. Just have to fill in a bit in between, still. LOL
Also at the western end of Rt. 20 at the beach in Newport, Oregon, last summer.
Of course, I did the eastern end many times, between Boston and Lebanon Valley, New York.
We both need to get on the road again!

Lonely road in Nevada. I don't know your fuel milage but I'd carry some..
After you get to Bishop Ca. you will be put on 395 south the Great American Wh--e Highway. 395 can hook you up directly on Interstate 15 South>Ca 91 West>710 South straight to the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
Looks like only 5 roads. The 710 thru LongBeach I'd one of the dirtiest highways in Ca due to all of the port of Long Beach trucks.... Have a great trip....

thanks for the update, i have not heard from him.......i actually did not know he had left. i am glad everything is going well and he is having fun.

 

Wow! Most of 6 thru Utah and Nevada is pretty lonely country....a lot of beautiful areas but miles of nothing also.

Wow, I saw him gassing up at speedway in Sheffield Ohio on lake rd (rt 6) last Sunday. I wish I saw this thread earlier.

I said to myself , self he's got a Connecticut plate and California or bust. I need to talk to him. I'm standing inside in line and he pulled away from the pump.

I've seen threads of some Iowans doing our state's portion of the Hwy. 6 run, but never the whole way! Impressive!

Holy cow.....the roads in the area he is going in from Cleveland to Indiana, Michigan then Wisconson are some of the worst in the country. That "A" will be beat to death....I worked up that way last spring, it beat the shat outta my dually F450, not sure how that car could stay together......guess low speed and zig zagging around potholes and debris......seriously....dont know how they call them roads there

Looking back at the 5 trips across the USA, I never made it to CT.----Since 1968 I have accumulated 300,000 miles.
Now at 84, just do shorter trips, L.A. Roadster show & back total 2439.0 in June.

 

Just goes to show ya....Your never to old to have a happy childhood.
