I saw part of it but can't get into history that is mostly actors acting to a script. Wife was eating up on it though.

I watched the first episode and they touched on a few things that I was unaware of,but I was well aware Henry Ford was a genius and a SOB. HRP

 

Caught most of the episode last night. Interesting stuff. Should be post war era tonight, gonna try to catch it.

 

It sucks, they have so many misfacts, and just made it into a TV drama.

Interesting, but full of errors and omissions.

 

Such as....

 

such as....John and Horace Dodge standing next to a table w/ a flat head Ford bare block sitting on it ?

 

And if you need a good laugh? In episode two, When the narrator talks of how pious Ford was...Google " Evangeline Cote "

 

Also such as a right hand drive Model A in the US, a plastic "mock up block" on a workbench, steel grill shell Model T's coming off the assembly line with brass T's, calling a '31 Model A "the new car", I was under the impression that Model A's came out in late '27/'28, and several more errors. They need a "car guy" as a proofreader.

 

They mention Benz with the first car in1896, & US following 7 years later, really? That Henry had two previous failing companies, well he left the second in a disagreement and it eventually became Cadillac. It was made as entertainment drama for those who never read any automotive history.

If at least one tree hugging, environment zealot becomes an old car nut, well then it was worth it, even with the errors. Lol

 

I was disappointed they didn't say anything about the '32 and flathead V8 before they jumped into WWII. Maybe tonight they will back step when they talk about youth movement and muscle cars. I saw somewhere that Dale Earnhardt Jr was a producer . That would explain the NACAR drivers commentary.

 

Just reinforced my thoughts of how much of an idiot Henry Ford was as a person. Nazi and master race supporter. Its a good thing that his"talents" didnt go in other directions.

 

Noticed in one scene from the 1930's........there was an engineer at a workbench working on a Quadrajet 4bbl !!

 

I have watched the first episode and thought it was pretty good. Apart from the inaccuracies of the parts they show on the work bench of the Dodge brothers. I laughed when I saw a flathead V8 block and a four barrel carb. Also a lot of the cars shown were not of the right era relative to the era in respect to the time depicted. I realize that that stuff was just props used for the dramatic depictions but I feel they should have tried to be more accurate. Overall I liked the show and am looking forward to seeing the last two episodes.

 

Checked out Evangeline Cote......really interesting stuff with the old mansion and boathouse.

I found it to boring to watch, I tried two different nights and just couldn't take it.

 

The most obvious error was making the big point about Ford inventing the assembly line, in 1913. Olds had it for cars in 1901 and Colt about 1850.

 

The part I saw clearly showed how the Ford assembly line was modeled on how animal processing plants were run, except in reverse (adding parts to the chassis instead of cutting them off.)

 

Tonight,2 chevy guys in a 55-56 merc with a flathead and call it a chevy.There is 2 more errors?????
