Technical late 50's Pontiac questions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Texas Highlander Motorsports, Aug 14, 2017.

  1. OK, so I know that the GM bodys are pretty much the the same from the firewall back to the back glass for the 1955-1960 and that doors, glass, etc work across the board. Here's my dilemma....I'm considering a 1959 Catalina that has swiss cheese for a floor. Will floor patch panels from a more readily available 1959 Chevy work?

    Thanks!

  3. I am in the same predicament too. I just picked up a pair of '60 Safari wagons. The exterior sheet metal is in great shape except for some surface rust but the floors are toast.

Not sure of your model...but I used to have a 59 Bonneville that had some heater ductwork screwed to the floorpan to go to the back seat area. I believe the Bonneville floors had an indent where that stuff went. That being said...if 100% originality is not a concern...im thinking they might be close enough to work. Windshields... doors (trim holes aside)...rear windows etc interchange between many 59 and 60 GM similar models. Check out the pics of the one piece Impala floor pan and compare to yours..
