For years I have known that my wife's Grandfather worked for Chevy in the late 50s early 60s. Today I found out the real story. I was asked to go clean out his shed. There were some tools that I could have if I wanted them, but the family considered them garage sale items. What I found, blew my mind! Taking to my father in law, his father (wife's Grandfather)was a sheet metal worker in the prototype department. They would make the bodies that the tooling was made from. HOW COOL IS THAT!!! I took all the tools that were worth keeping. Here are some pics... I will post more tomorrow....
I think Accurate Instrument Co. made lots of them over the years. I've had this Model BT-163 for decades. Still use it occasionally.
Ahhhhhhhh, Sucrets. Used those tins for many secret projects when I was a kid. Some of those tools are artwork, great score !
A great Union tool box, Starrett, Mitutoyo, machinist level.......plus that Chevrolet book. I also see a old C clamp too. Great that it will be used again and even greater that it's by family.
This kind of stuff is priceless (at least to people like us)! Really love the body (?) tools. I inherited some tools from my Grandfather and an Uncle along with a wooden tool chest and a wooden tool carrier (both made by my Gramps). Some of the tools are used occasionally, but most are stashed for a future tool junky. Keep em coming, Carp
There are tons of old clamps, files, craftsman sockets, hammers, etc. I can get more pics if anyone wants....
Would you consider copying that manual, I, for one, would like a copy of those table etcs and the knowledge in it.

Love the old tools, makes me feel good when I use one of them I know my granddaddy or father used. Alway hate to see them hanging on the wall in some theme restaurant,need to be kept in a tool box and used as often as possible. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
A big +1, my thoughts exactly. If anyone comes up with old tools they can't ID or have questions about, it's worthwhile to post over on the Garage Journal Forum in the vintage tool section. A lot of good information and tool history available over there. Ed
When I see a box, and tools like that, I think someone's career is represented by these things. A good man earned his lively hood with that collection. Very cool.
Good score, I'm sure the original owner would want them to be in use, not sitting in a display case somewhere. I still use some of my granpa's tools, some are nearly 100 years old. He would be mighty upset if I didn't!
Wait a minute,, I have some of those tools,,, so am I old?? And I use them. I did get a treasure once like this, my uncle retired from the space industry and I got his home tool boxes and inside was a wiring diagram for a switch for the Apollo program and a bunch of idot lights and switches. And I got his Hughes Wind Tunnel Department shop coat
