Here ya go Bob, it's the ugly duckling. I shot it Blue on Tuesday but the color wasn't to my Liking so it will get taken apart again shortly and shot again. And since the motor is running like a top, naturally the throw out bearing is yelling at me now. So the trans will come down in a coiple weeks here to address that issue

  14. I don't know, the rumor mill is at full song. We are racing until we are not.
In reality, the way I look at it, I have an opportunity to go, this may not be around in 5 or 10 years.
The degradation of the salt is obvious and it seems that only a small group of people have any concerns.
I do not think that even if all the mining stopped today the area would recover in my lifetime.
All of the speculation is just that, nobody knows for sure.

If somebody wants to go, they will go, if they don't want to go they make excuses.

  16. Weather over the Great Salt Desert of the even bigger Great Basin has always been the major factor determining the size of the lake bed. When I was working out of Salt Lake City about four days a week I would fly from SLC to the West Coast and back. The Federal Jetway tooks us right over the track. In July and August (mostly) I would run up against some of the biggest "Thunder Busters" (read storms) I'd ever seen. Often flying West (or vice/versa) the track area was dry; coming back it was part of the greater lake. The whims of "Mother Nature" determine when the track is usable for the LSR folks!

I am waiting to get ready for Colorado.
After last year at the Hotrod Hillclimb, I decided to get a Mitchell gear splitter, and anyday now Sue will call me and say that it is ready to ship. I hope I did not cut it too close, but if the OD is late I will still bring the Heap anyway.
I had the time of my life on Friday's OMG reliability run.

I need photos of a stock A rear with tube shocks, I have a rough idea of how, but want to see photos.
I do not like the angle iron looking kit that the Model A suppliers sell.
I have a NOS pair of Houdaille tube shocks, that I plan on putting on the car, to avoid gas charged shocks.

other side .................... questions please ask

  23. Steve,
yes, been running El Mirage, nice short plowed field.
here again, this may not be around too much longer.

Imagine if you will trying to get a permit to race 300mph vehicles in a Federal/BLM campground.
Especially since the BLM and promoter sued for wrongful death of spectators a few years ago in desert race.

Please understand, I have watched more than my share of good racetracks disappear to developments and lawsuits by people who just do not belong there. This also applies to shooting ranges and GA airports.

So this showed up for the Cabriolet. I guess if you ship it on its side it already fell over and can't get hurt from the accidental fall. IMG_20170731_154835745_HDR.jpg
    I guess it's a good thing I have an extraction tool IMG_20170731_155545302_HDR.jpg
It was supposed to be 'all assembled, ready to install'
It is already apart but it's going to be OK IMG_20170731_163718317_HDR.jpg

I am getting excited for the Hill Climb again this year too! This year I am not thrashing to get my car together, I am moving on September 1st. I am glad I have no issues with my coupe with an exception of an oil change and a good cleaning. I still have dirt drag mud hiding here and there. Looking forward to seeing friends I made last year again.

    Binger,
Hoping to make the Hill Climb again this year and see you and the Mrs. Binger. You two have all smiles
I've got my KOA confirmation but not heard back from the Hill Climb application. That can't be good news...
I'll go to have fun but it will be more fun charging up the hill with an OHV in the Cabby.
