I played around with scallops and couldn't come up with anything I liked. I wanted something that transitioned from the dark red roof to the refrigerator white. I went with a marbleized finish and parallel pinstripes. Definitely not to everyone's taste!

  10. Looking for budget friendly ideas to freshen up the look of my Chevy. Hoping for ideas that don't involve a full repaint. Ride height needs to remain the same please. Thanks in advance for your ideas. IMG_1457.JPG IMG_1456.JPG

Here are a few ideas - all budget friendly because you can do them one-at-a-time without leaving the car in pieces. The swapped parts are all pretty cheap on Craigslist or swap meets.

    1) Clean up the surface rust on the chrome and stainless. Try a little WD40 or Naval Jelly on a rag and buff. Not permanent, but will clean it up for cruise night.
    2) Paint the door posts to match the roof to give a more unified look.
    3) Remove the teeth on the grille leaving a solid bar. Fill the holes with bullets or just get a different bar.
    4) Replace the headlight rings with some '55 Buick Hawkeye units. Bolt in.
    5) Lose the antenna for a cleaner look. Ditto the hood ornaments.
    6) Fender skirts.
    7) '52-'53 Packard sombreros. Usually much cheaper than Caddies.
    8) Whitewalls. OK. Not cheap, but you could run Port-A-Walls until the real thing comes along!

    Something a little different...
Black paint is cheap...De-chromed painted the roof grill and bumpers black and a set of wheels....

We were thinking about a very similar blue on the body and then a pearl white and some silver or off white paneling on the roof.

Oh yea! That's sexy. I love wide whites on 40's and 50's cars and most 20s and 30s but 60s is all about the skinny whites.
