My kids are huge fans of Disney's Cars. (So am I.) So, I started putting these old Buddy L pieces together to build a Tow Mater. I got this far and then realized I do not posses the talent it takes to give personality to a truck. I mean, I guess it has personality, but I can't draw a face the way Pixar artists do. Oh well...
Here's what the original grill should look like on the Buddy L GMC. I thought I found a use for one without grill (above), but I'd be better at recreating a GMC grill than two buck teeth.
I thought I would check out the H.a.m.b. but I didn't realize it was Tuesday until I saw this thread.lol Here's a die cast 56 Chevy. Maybe I'll do better next Tuesday. Ron... Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow that 56 looks just like my buddy's.... got to find a pic ! I was wondering where you were , glad you didn't sleep through Tuesday ‼️
Things are looking good guys...last night I was sitting looking at my stuff thinking of what to post then I got a call from my brother he saying man I got to much stuff ...come and get what you want, he does estate sales and house and farm clean ups and gets a lot of cool stuff, so I hooked up the trailer and made the 2 hour drive over this morning and just got back...this is a sample of some of the haul...this is one of five tubs of hot wheels , Tootsie toys and other die-casts and the trailer is loaded with tools, model-t tub body and a t turtle deck ..... gotta go unload....man I'm getting to much stuff.. I used the cab from a Texaco tanker. and replaced a '58 Ford cab that was on that chassis. I don't think Buddy L ever built a GMC tow truck like that. Before the Ford cab, this tow truck bed was offered with a '55 International cab. I'm partial to the IH cab. You might even say I have a problem. Too bad I don't have half a dozen of these. This MIC from 1954 has similar lines on the side of the bed. Makes we wonder it it was copied directly? Little else is the same between this cast aluminum truck.
Good morning, looks like we have a tow truck theme going. Here's an old 50's cities service truck, towing a Pontiac. It has a new fender to fix the wreck. Ron... Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here is another old tow truck. It's pulling an roadster pickup, with a hemi. Should have went with a s.b.c. Lol. Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I don't know if this will show up that good, but I guess this is where my affliction for old cars, diecast , and tin toys started, me in 1953 ..... wish I had some of these today ....
Tombstone I like your 1953 photo.I will try to find one of me from 1961. I grew up playing in the dirt too. I still have some of my toy old trucks. They are very rough, and in very played with condition. But here's just another tow truck for now. Ron... Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

I found a better bed and boom for this truck I posted last week. Here's a closeup of the 1954 National Automobile Club logo.
It's not a die cast. But I'll add it for{ Tow Truck Tuesday.} Lol I restored it for my grandson. It looked like the one that it's towing, before the restoration. Sorry, Photo of a photo, Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow guys the toy tow truck thing you got going is so cool but kind of a bummer at the same time....nothing wrong on your parts ..there all great just bum's me a little because just got rid of a very large tow truck Collection, about 200 different tow trucks including a real 2 1/2 ton 1946 Chev tow truck , reason was I was diagnosed with kidney cancer about two years ago so I figured I was on my way out so I give my collection to a friend with a tow company and sold the old 46 ,also 5 of my old hot rods ,then now after three surgery's and all but 40% of one remaining kidney later they tell me I'm cancer free....but I got my health and I still have a few hundred other die-casts and other old toys and models and around 5 hot rods and a bunch of other stuff ...so I guess I am still good.....keep em coming guys you all have some really cool stuff....
