  7. Decent starting point there ravedodger.. Did you get front sheet metal with it? I have to tell you that if that car had been sitting where I am for nearly 60 years you might have found a piece of stainless - and maybe the engine block.. Heh, heh.

I'm on the search for the sheet
metal. I have replacement parts for just about everything else, so provided that I have time and a little money, it should be a driver somewhat soon.

Is the spot light a rare option? I just bought a '47 Coupe with the long doors and the original drivetrain that also has a spot light on the drivers side.

To the best of my knowledge, the spotlight was not a rare option rather a dealer installed accessory which was pretty common when these cars were new. I have seen many 46 thru 48 Fords with them.

I bought my long skirts from Agape Auto Parts for my old 41. They have a few different options, you have to specifically ask for the long skirts if that's what your looking for. They are very flat and have very little curve. I had Garlands Sacramento reshape the skirts to what you see here[IMG]

  15. Judging by what I can see, you have a 48 Sedan with a 46 Style Trunk Lid with the stainless strips and a 46 rear bumper with the Ford emblem in the center, the one part I am chasing.
Even though you are in Australia you are still overseas !!!!(grin)

Here is my next project. Possibly the only one left on existence? 1946 Ford Siebert Ambulance. Based off of a sedan delivery. I plan to do a drive line and suspension upgrade. Then run the patina. Screenshot_2017-06-24-21-59-49.png IMG950539.jpg IMG950543.jpg IMG950540.jpg IMG950542.jpg

Hi Willysbill - I questioned the family about the oddball 46 strips on the trunk lid and they assured me that this was how the car was when Dad bought her brand new in Dec 48. The only accident damage on the car was when she got hit -lightly- by a truck on the right hand rear fender sometime in the 60,s. The trunk lid and rear bumper have never been changed. I am guessing Ford Australia must have been using up old stock before the model change in 49.

    Cheers

That wouldn't surprise me for that from what I understand, this was a common practice. Even the early U.S. manufactured 47s had some (if not all) the 46 trim until the inventory was depleted. Pretty resourceful.

  22. Well that is something I should have said last night, Australian car builders had a habit of using up leftover parts, below is another 48 Sedan that had the 46 Style Strips on the Trunk lid, they are not there anymore (grin) Using leftover parts from different years was not restricted to Fords either
