So I have been considering some sort of hood scoop for the Plymouth. I made this cardboard mock up, but I honestly don't know if I like it or not. Opinions wanted, or suggestions for something else? Be honest, I can take it. Thanks in advance. 20170715_115302.jpg 20170715_115319.jpg

  3. That's pretty wrong for that car .

  4. Is the scoop under your lunch kit?? Seriously, though, that's not the style of scoop for that car. Maybe a baby bird style??

What engine combination is under the hood? What's the theme of the car, is it a drag racer or whatZ

  6. Don't you have a small scoop on the car?

If you just have to have a bigger scoop use something that would have be available back in the day, something similar to this.HRP

This is what the car currently looks like. HRP, thanks for the honesty. I guess I was just itching for something different, I get bored easily.
Stuart in nm, I've never really stuck to any sort of "theme" with the car. But if I had to classify it? Street freak-ish. 20170715_123829.jpg

Put a spacer under it and you now have a full scoop.

  10. Put a spacer under the hillybornish scoop, let it stand up and out a bit more and finish the hoods edges.

    Or

Maybe a surfers scoop type unit on the hood.

Are you just chasing the right look, or do you want something that's actually functional?

Nothing wrong with hood scoops but the OP's cardboard mock up looks like shit. Nothing could look worse.

No. Boredom has killed the look of a lot of cars. Sometimes, it REALLY is DONE.

A reverse tear drop or is that too Thunderbolt? It would sure look neat with those rounded fender tops and all but might be too closely associated with Ford to pass.

No!!! You gotta get rid of the scoop. Then replace it with a new grille. A valiant 300! That might be even more street-freakish. 8^) Jack E/NJ valiant.jpg

Cowl type no taller that required. I like Fords but to me those teardrop scoops didn't even look good on the cars Ford put them on.

If YOU like it, then go for it; That's all that matters.

i would go for the Hilbourne (sp?) you have on it now, or a bugcatcher myself.

  21. Something that goes with the lines of the car and hood shape.

    Pretty recognizable, maybe too much.
    But better.

    If you're feeling ambitious.
Carve one out of foam and patern it.

What you have on there now looks '60's as can be. Some stainless trim surrounding it would help to set it off a bit.

The thing looks good and sneaky as is without the box treatment. Put spacer under it if u have too for the full hilborne visible effect. I also really like the smooth red plexiglass thing someone posted earlier.

  27. And to be perfectly honest it was the ugliest thing about the whole car.

The hood scoop on the car when it was used in American Graffiti looked a 100 times better.HRP

The rest of the '55 makes up for the bad scoop. Like to girl that has the killer body, and bad nose.
