Well yeah, but there won't be 300 extra holes. Also if you zoom in on the drivers side hood hinge, there's a huge hole there for wiring.

Man just went thru this whole build, gotta tell ya your doing some killer work. It's funny I did a very similar treatment to the rear end of a 55 chevy convertible for the shop I work for. I did 56 tail lights with one piece lenses and tucked and frenched a wagon bumper. Even made a new body line just above the number to give it something to tuck into. I won't highjack your tread with a bunch of pics, I'll just show one. I only have one tail light done in the pic to show the difference. [IMG]

Hey, don't sell yourself short, Rytang, that's what we're all here for. Seriously, though, you're killing it. Great work.

Filling more holes on the drivers side. And fixing factory spot welds. 20170722_120242.jpg Pretty sure this is a bullet hole. 20170722_121802.jpg All welded and ground. Welded every single pin hole. Now just have to do it to the rest of the car 20170722_164817.jpg 20170722_181306.jpg

  13. while your there, weld a ground stud on the inside of the cowl under the dash. will help when wiring it.

What do you mean? Sorry this is my first time doing anything like this.

  15. when ever i get the opportunity, i will weld a 1/4" bolt to the inside of the cowl firewall. tape it off so it doesn't get painted, then when it is time to ground the radio, gauges, dash lights etc. i have a solid point to run a ground wire too. otherwise you will have to drill a hole or use a screw to ground to.
just real easy to do it at this stage of the build with the welder right there.

That's Awesome! What did you do with the old taillight sections? I wanted 55 tails on mine so bad. 56 was what I had.

Well I used the lower half the old section or the stock 55 housing, did some reshaping and moved it lower. The rest of the tail light surround I had to make from scratch. I used to have a bunch of pics of the process but not sure were they are. I did a crap ton of custom work on that car. The left side tail light is motorized to swing out of the way for the gas filler neck. If I come across those pics I'll share them with you. Get back to work your making some killer progress!

Ps I'm going to steal your idea on mounting the shrinker/stretcher to my English wheel. Might even mount a place for a beater bag and post dollies on there!

I found on if the in progress pics. [IMG] all the metal work done on this car was done with just basics and tools and a mig welder. I wish I had my tig welder at the time but I was in between welders then. Since then I bought myself a new tig, and my boss has bought a tig for the shop. So now that misty what I use

I do this too, but weld a bunch of 1/4" bolts along the inside of the body seam at the top of the firewall. Great for hanging a wire run, Mounting a vintage air a/c evaporator, mounting the fuse block, and using for a convenient ground. Then paint the entire under dash area white for the best visibility possible.

I didn't take you guys on the ride for this one. But I cut out the bad section of the passenger side. Couple pin holes to fill, and this part is done. 20170726_182941.jpg

Just noticed something for the first time, you never had rust problems to repair. Bob

Most of the rust is in the floor and rockers. But the car was pretty decent.

Probably a tilt nose with a dancing hydraulic set up like you'd see on the bed of a mini truck. Sure makes a scene out of checking your oil lol
