  2. Ok...I know that this thread is about the '40 Fords, and I am definitely a '40 guy, and while I like the tail dragging mordor Kustom, that '35 in the background is just stinkin' cool!!!

Took the truck and 283 down to Doug's shop to get ready for the engine swap.

    Hello,
Being a past 40 Ford Sedan Delivery (2) owner, I have always had a liking for 40 Fords. Getting my first ride in a big, red, two door sedan through the local drive in was cool in itself, but to stand around a bunch of them and gaze, well, speaks for itself.

That first ride in the big, red sedan was nice. I am sure that led me to search for my first 40 of some kind. The front end always gave me the idea that it sliced through the air. To me, it looked streamlined from the factory with its smooth lines flowing over the top. Like the rest of you fans, the 40 design just did it for me in the search for my first real ride.

Last weekend, at the Long Beach opening of the Lions Dragstrip Museum wing at the Price Automobilia Center, a couple of Fords stood out from the rest of the line up.

Happy Fourth of July to the regulars on this thread. Hope y'all can enjoy a pig sammich and a cold belly wash with your kin and celebrate how the '40 Ford helped make it happen.

    Hello,

Not only were those other 40’s parked in the “show” row, there was a black coupe driving down to the far end of the row. That was a nice 40 coupe, very smooth and stylish looking. But, the one 40 coupe that was inside of the Price Automobilia building was the epitome of a 1959-62 style, 40 Ford Coupe. Why?

It had the requisite white walls with chromed reverse wheels, the candy red paint, the white upholstery and those cool looking side exhaust cut outs. Most of the hot rods in our area had one styling form, two or all... it was a popular look in So Cal. Now, that is one look that we would see almost weekly, cruising around Bixby Knolls or in the parking lot at Lions.

    Hello,

"Now, that is one look that we would see almost weekly, cruising around Bixby Knolls or in the parking lot at Lions." (from previous post)

Or…I forgot, these 40's were seen frequently, at Lions Dragstrip fighting an uphill battle against the perennial winner, Junior Thompson in his black Studebaker Sedan. The B/Gas rules put most street cars with SBC or V8 power to weight in this class. David against the Giant… This time as usual, the Giant wins…again.

51 years this week my gal has been riding shotgun in a whole spectrum of hot rods with me. This will be our last one. See the smile? She knows we are going for ice cream! Dennis Day (D-Day Design) did my air cleaner to match the flames this spring, his usual great work. And inspired by Don and others, decided to try the cyclops fog light look. We'll see, jury still out. 001.JPG 005.JPG 20170411_122111.jpg 002.JPG

    Hey O,
An escapee from the Price Automobilia Museum in So Cal, perhaps? That is one fine 40 either way,(Ontario or So Cal) with the looks of hot rodding in California from the 50-60's.

Apologize if this is already on the thread but found it this morning and for an ol' fellow it brings back the days of summer. Worth another glance anyway.
