Idk depends on how you read thread title I guess..... Does it mean the engine is traditional, such as a flathead, hemi, nailhead etc and they are nicely detailed....... Or engines that are detailed with traditional style? As long as there are no; plastic intakes, billet fuel rails, SBC center bolt valve covers or anything newer than that. I'll keep watching, some I enjoy more than others but that's ok with me, I'm not easily offended.

Can't ya just admire these engines for the super-fine detail and hours of contemplation that went into the building/assembly??

Fellas, keep up the incredible work, and please do not let comments like this prevent You from posting more photographs!!

  13. Comments like mine keep things on track and hopefully stop this great place from becoming diluted with Billet and Street Rod fashions. I agree that motor in question looks nice as do so many other automotive trends but as I implied they don't fit here! JW

i did not recognize that You were commenting on one specific motor, but now i do. It originally sounded like a general statement, and generally the engines posted are traditional with wicked detail

    Hello,

Sometimes the simplest set up, with a few details, makes the nicest motor look and perform for any race or street hot rod. Twin carbs, multi color paint, Edlebrock finned heads, cool looking swept back headers makes this Flathead stand out, whether it is in a roadster, coupe or truck.

Inside of the Price Automobilia Museum was a small room filled with all kinds of race car goodies from the historic car timeline. Blowers, dual carb manifold, Moon Discs, different carbs, etc. They all played their part in the hot rod, history display.

It looked like a 50-60's backyard, hot rod garage. It instantly brought back memories of our Rumpus Room play area. That party room was converted into a pull up garage door, work area.
upload_2017-7-25_5-8-41.png This place had a door and lots of windows all around. It was the place for all BD parties and later on, friends' hang out parties. We took out the opening single door and a row of windows to create a plywood garage door. Now, it was our hot rod garage. Our 40 Willys fit perfectly inside. But, in the place of a Flathead on a stand, it was an SBC on a home made, steel framed, roller skate powered stand.

The Flathead motor at the Price Hot Rod room was the centerpiece and it looked fabulous. It was a motor that would have looked great in my first 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. It was even painted the same color. But, my stock Flathead ran fine, a little under-powered, but reliable enough to put on 1000s of miles up and down the So Cal coastline.

If money were available, certainly hop up stuff like in the Flathead photo would have been the next step. The 40 Ford Sedan Delivery was the last stop prior to getting serious in the college job market future.

Nothing too new here, just time consuming. '54 248 bored .157 and a 270 crank. Arias pointed out it was now a "283 GMC" GMC Dec 18 013.JPG Feb 18 056.JPG
