  5. Time is marching on
One motor left to finish before Bonneville. Head is done 'cep the oring wires, lifters need clearance to cam undercuts and rings need a gappin',
Just finished changing rear gears in the tank and need to do a wrench check on all the fasteners before going into trailer.
    Happy 4th to all, J

  6. Finally got my racecar into the metal banger's shop to get some much needed changes to the belly pan I need a foot well to accommodate my size 12 W's. The brake and clutch pedals will be reconfigured too to make more room.

  8. Anybody close to Harrisonburg VA? Looks like a 32 heavy truck with a diamond block on Craigslist. too far for me. Truck is roached but B Pan, hopefully counterbalanced crank and firewall would be worth the trip.

Happy 4th of July wishes to everyone! No real progress on any of my projects, sandblasting costs sure have gone up since the last time I sent things out. Stuff sure looks good in primer. Bob

  15. OK dumb question of the month.... whats with the red and yellow banger motors? Is there a history to it? Or just for the fun of it?

It's no secret that red motor produces more HP than a green one. IMG_0064.JPG

The red one's overheat. Yellow ones smell bad and the green ones are jealous of all the other motors Henry didn't make o_O

  19. That is funny, I was just talking to Friend about what color to paint new motor. Looks like purple or orange.
The other option is to leave unpainted and let it rust. This would be different, rusting from the outside in........

Happy 4th to all, be safe

You can get rusty paint even oxidized copper. Art stores have got almost every patina

I like yellow. Don't know why. No reason. I just like yellow bangers. think they may be faster.

  24. It does seem that the more modified the Banger is, the more likely to be a non stock color. Then again, I don't think I can get the stock ford color at the local auto store...LOL Real hot rodding, using what you have on hand.

I always worry about "undercut" cams. Kindda worry about lifter rotation/speed

    Thin, Thinner, Thinnest...........;)

  29. Dan,
It looks real thin because the journals are 1.70 dia, but yes, undercut.
    Middle one is 1.56 journals.
Not ideal, but the test last month went well.
